Froot's hot takes always make me laugh. The Eagles weren't good on defense. But the 38 points on 7 possessions made me chuckle. The Eagles defense gave up 4 TDs, 1 FG, 1 missed FG, 1 punt. And one of the TD drives started at the 5. And KC has an outstanding offense.

It was nowhere close to the worst defensive performane in the SB. I'm not even sure it was any worse than the Chiefs -- 4 TDs, 2 FGs, 1 punt, 1 forced TO/TD.

Anyway, having watched The Broncos give up 35 in a quarter and then 55 in a game and then the Chargers haplessly holding Young to 6 TD passes and more recently the Broncos holding Seattle to 43 and, of course, the Falcons givin up a 28-3 lead in about a quarter -- this wasn't particularly bad -- and it certainly wasn'y "as bad" as that. They just got beat by a very good offense. Honestly, same for the Chiefs.

      My two cents:

Fantastic game overall which is what I wanted more that any specific outcome. Disappointed with the holding call at the end because that effectively ended the game. I thought it was a little tacky tacky for that situation and would have loved to see the Eagles have 1:40 to try to tie or win the game.

The non-football activities are just atrocious. I don't think there is a league, company, or organization that thinks more highly of themselves than the NFL. Fucking nauseating. I turned on the broadcast at 6:00 and by they time they kicked off at 6:45 I wanted to puke. How many goddamn songs need to be sung?? How many ex-players need to be introduced and shown standing around doing nothing?

But the grand prize for over-produced horseshit goes to the "make your skin crawl" Walter Payton Man of the Year presentation. Good fucking lord. Winners are a who's who of dirtbags. Russel Wilson won it two years ago. Everyone hates that guy and now his charity was just exposed as being largely a sham operation. Shocking! Bret Favre won the thing before. He's in trouble for siphoning state welfare funds for a new volleyball facility at his daughter's college. Then there's Payton himself who was fucking half the women in Chicago. Prescott being vociferously booed was the absolute high point of the vomit-inducing pregame shitfest.

Heard this morning that the NFL spent two years developing that field for the Super Bowl. Bang up job guys. Stick to what you do best: fellating yourself for hours on end to a bored and disinterested audience.

And finally: If I start a Go Fund Me to raise money for the murder of Terry Bradshaw, can I count on your support?

...... but what about a 7 month pregnant Rhianna floating above the field dancing seductively and grabbing her crotch?
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

Interesting point regarding the condition of the field. I know that NFL players prefer grass, and that's probably the best option when you consider injuries. But nobody has been able to put together a field that provides good footing for an entire football season. The field in Phoenix is actually rolled out of the stadium so it can sit in the sunshine to make it grow better, but it doesn't appear to have had the desired effect.

Personally, I'd like to see an artificial turf where a sandy-dirt base is placed underneath. That way they could have the artificial grass that doesn't get torn up, but also have the softer field underneath to fall on. But, what do I know ...

The NFL says they want to eventually go to "all grass" fields, but I don't know how they're going to make that work in domed stadiums. I have not yet seen it done successfully.

I didn't watch the halftime show but add it to the list.

Darn... I missed that. Quality entertainment. I was watching a "Cops" rerun during halftime.

Oddly, I'm with Mike. Good game. A little anti-climatic (props to the Eagle DB saying afterward, "yeah, I held him and hoping it wouldn't get called"). Didn't care who won.

The pregame stuff, yeah. I'm not sure why we just can't have Stapelton sing the national anthem...I'm sorry -- the Non-Black National Anthem -- and get on with it. But I'd have even taken America the Beautiful and whatever "national" anthems you wanted to sing if you could avoid some of the other nonsense. The Johnny Cash flagomerical. Meh. The "look at how great we are " man of the year. Meh.

The halftime show is what it is. I don't care much. The field being shit -- that's embarrassing.

All of that said -- again -- I watch for the game -- the game was good. So, a night well-spent.

Re: grass fields, they just can't provide the stable footing that field turf does so it becomes a trade-off between injures due to turf or guys slipping all over the place on real grass. Heard some interesting observations on sports radio this morning regarding the Eagles defense. They had the 3rd most sacks in NFL history this season but yesterday was only their second game of the season without one. The DEs typically employ that spin move to whip around the OT. It requires them to be moving quickly while being very low to the ground as they make their move. This commentator counted at least 3 times where the Eagles player wiped out which really hamstrung their rush ends.

Chiefs would have gone up 3 with Hurts getting the ball back with 1:30 left and 2 time outs. Probably would have gone to OT at the least, Eagles win by 4 at the most.
Yes, that call is one that the refs probably should have let go. But, that's typical. With all of the questionable calls and uneven officiating at critical times of games, this is the NFL has become this season.

If you deployed the experts from the MSU turf management program, you would have had a great field for the super bowl instead of the amateur hour they got.

Former Michigan QB Chad Henne (Chiefs) decided to call it a career last night after the Super Bowl. He played 15 seasons in the NFL, mostly as a backup.

He still holds Michigan records for pass attempts, completions and total yards.
