Michigan still has Donovan Edwards, and he proved last week that he can play with a sore wrist.

I'm still not expecting Corum to play, so Edwards will likely tote the rock the most. OSU couldn't stop him even when their defensive formation was geared to stop him.

Michigan can throw the ball too. Ask the bucks.

I was just reading about that, too. Sounds like he probably had it in his car and got pulled over like the Emoni Bates situation. Bates' charges were eventually dropped. Hopefully, it will blow over for Mazi as well but he won't be suiting up Saturday night at the very least.

I haven't seen anything official from the AD on his status. Anyone?

I did read a thorough discussion of the charge and what it entails at mgo. There's also a lengthy discussion of 2A there that gets way off track. Don't bother to sort through it looking for official comments on his status for Saturday.

        I stopped looking on page 10, #175.

He's been playing since the charge on 10/7. I have no doubt that Harbaugh is aware, knows the details and has allowed Smith to play with the blessing of Warde. Based on that, I don't see why his status should change for the game on Saturday...... innocent until proven guilty and all that. I'd be pissed if the U caved, benched him for PR purposes. Fuck that. It's going to be weeks, possibly months before this goes to trail, the charges are dropped or Mazi reaches a plea deal with the DA's office.

Whatever .... if you drive anywhere in downtown Detroit, it is not unwise to carry. Just get a permit to do that.

Michigan athletic director Warde Manuel and head coach Jim Harbaugh released statements Thursday afternoon. Smith will remain an active participant of the team as the judicial process plays out, Manuel revealed.

“We are aware of the charge against Mazi from a traffic stop back in October,” Manuel said. “Mazi was honest, forthcoming and cooperative from the very beginning and is a tremendous young man. He is not and never has been considered a threat to the University or community.

“Based on the information communicated to us, we will continue to allow the judicial process to play out. Mazi will continue to participate as a member of the team.”

“I have respect for our judicial process and with that respect brings confidence that a fair and just resolution is forthcoming,” Harbaugh added. “Mazi’s character and the trust that he has earned over the past four years will continue to be considered throughout the process.”

Fantastic. I'm astounded the U administrators didn't force Warde to bench him. This is the fucking U of Misguided woke people running it.

Hard to backtrack off statements like that unless new information comes out that looks bad. Being that it's December, I would expect the wheels of justice to turn slowly until after the new year. IOW, there won't be any possibly damaging news between now an the end of the season. Sounds like a fairly innocuous situation that probably has to do with an expired permit. High profile public figures like Manuel and Harbaugh wouldn't go on record with statements like that if there was some sort of violent act involved.

Judge says Smith can travel with his team out-of-state, which clears him for B10 championship and possible college football playoffs.

Speaking for the “Woke” side of the political spectrum, of which I might as well be a card carrying member. People are innocent before proven guilty. Sounds like Mazi made a bit of a mistake, but he was in the process of getting his concealed carry license. Stupid to be speeding with a gun in the car. But not really an issue. Woke people would agree, no issue here. Give him a ticket and a fine, he’s learned his lesson.

A sparty would have pulled the gun on the cop, been tasered, arrested, and cooling his heels in jail, only to be released to play before convicted of resisting arrest.
