My biggest gripe relates to replay, and how its administered. On the CATCH by Roman Wilson, the replay took almost 4 minutes to review and come to a decision. I believe that since a Time Out is about 1 minute long, then replays should be limited to the same time frame. If those nimrods in the booth (sorry Wiz) can't make a decision within 1 minute of the WH putting on the headset, then the decision is defaulted to whatever was called on the field. Replay was instituted to correct mistakes, errors, etc. It was not intended to be a way to criticize a play for several minutes until you can finally find a way to deny the play. Fix the call, or don't fix it, .. and move on. And yes, I believe Wilson had a legit catch. He never lost control of the ball. The rules need to be tweeked to allow catches like that. Micro-officiating to find ways to deny catches is just plain stupid, and takes too much away from the game.

All that being said, I don't think the officiating had any effect on the outcome of the game. That is surprising, because McGinn's crew is usually very flag happy, and especially so with Michigan. They allowed both teams to get away with stuff, but they flagged the stuff that was necessary. On a 5 point scale, with 5 being a perfectly officiated ballgame, I'd give them about a 3.9

Seriously though...that crew last night struggled...I recall the white hat struggling to explain blowing a play dead because they needed to allow the defense to adjust after late substitutions by the offense...I think it took him 15 seconds to stop garbling words and what ended up saying made little sense. They really appeared to be flustered much of the game...I noted early how bad the wings were struggling...as officials we've all had games like that...but you hope it's not on a huge stage like that...yeow...

The no flag on the JJ take down with the helmet? Klatt was saying grabbing any part of the edge of the helmet to tackle a player is a face mask violation. Was he right about that? Is this one of those no-calls that can't be reviewed?

I think it was pretty clear on the replay - started out as a hand slashing movement across JJ's visor. The face mask was involved but only for a second. But the tackler, wanting to make sure JJ went down definately grabbed and held on to the underside of the helmet from front to back. And agree McGinn looked like he struggled to explain the many of thee calls the refs made.

Klatt is correct. It was a missed call. There were several. This BigTen crew looked like they were from the SEC.

Jeff - IMO it was one of those 50/50 calls. I think enough helmet contact happened to where a flag could be justified. But, the crew probably wasn't gigged for it afterward because they let it go. And Wiz is right. Had a Michigan player done the same thing, the flag would have flew.

It's really quite amusing. The thought that there is some conspiracy to scheme against the endeavors of the University of Michigan...the thought that every bad call in a game is AGAINST them...they have NEVER been the beneficiary...EVER.

The calls I've repeatedly referred to in here are well documented. I've also referred to bad calls against Michigan that were later confirmed by the conference. No rehash necessary. Facts is facts.

I'll never be persuaded away from my belief that there are some crews and crew members who have a hard-on for Michigan. Create new acronyms, fire away. I don't care.

Please tell me that in any other conference, that there are not crew members or even full crews that don't like particular teams, coaches or certain players.
