Thanks Wiz. We're finally having some fun rooting for our guys.
One of the most entertaining parts of this post game show is watching Urban Meyer as he's surrounded by Michigan players... celebrating their 2nd B1G Championship."The stockings were hung by the chimney with care, .. I'd worn them for weeks, and they needed the air"

Michigan won using the same formula and achieving the same results in the same manner as most of it's previous games. Purdue outgained Michigan, had more first downs, more TOP. Purdue was Purdue - this game the "good" Purdue - with O'Donnell hitting Jones for big plays. It just wasn't enough against M. Purdue passed for 366y, O'Donnell was 32/47 and Jones had 13 receptions for 182 yards. Impressive but ineffective. WIth those game stats you'd think Purdue should have won, right?
Here's the problem: Purdue was held to 90y rushing at 2.4 ypc. Passing netted only 7.8 ypa. But the killer for Purdue was RZ efficiency. The Good: Purdue put together six drives of at least eight plays controlling the game flow in the first half. The Bad: only one of the Boilermaker's drives ended in a touchdown: the second drive. After that, Purdue was limited to kicking five field goals from inside the RZ. Three of 35 yards or fewer. I though Brohm's decision to kick a meaningless field goal on 4th and 6 at M's 22 late in the game sealed Purdue's loss. That was a white flag. Purdue was held to 6 points on two FGs - a Minter trademark performance - in the second half. Worst of all, in the second half, Purdue didn't have the long drives that gave them game control in the first half.
I picked to keys to the game for Purdue: (1) Brohm outschemed Minter. Brohm had his usual mix of what looked like would have been excellent plays but execution, when those plays seemed out of the comfort zone of the players, was poor. Minter was satisfied with letting Purdue fuck around between the 20's but was aggressive inside them. Score one for Minter. (2) Getting M off the field on D. Purdue did surprisingly well with this .... until they couldn't and that's what Harbaugh's philosophy of winning with integrity and toughness does to opponents by the 4th quarter. M rushed for 226y at 5.9ypc. You could see the M OL dominating by the mid to late 3rd as Edwards started to get on track. Nice try but no cigar for you Purdue.
As usual, the broadcast sucked from a production standpoint. The referee, Jim McGinn was his usual, throw the flag then, oh I don't know, lets huddle and talk about it for 15 minutes self. I thought the no call on JJ's face mask and helmet tackle was bad along with a couple of other calls leading to an inconsistent enforcement of the rules overall, PIs for example. Linesman would say the game was over-refereed - they did let them play though and that's been a point of effort this season for the refs. Moving on. Edwards and JJ were great. The appearance that they made up for the loss of Blake Corum is illusory. Purdue got plenty of stuffs and TFLs. Edwards got some run late because the OL played extremely well but the tell was that unlike Corum, on first down runs, critical to get M's offense into rhythm, Edwards would get 2-3 yards when on the same plays Corum would have gotten 5-6.
On to the semifinals ...... Orange Bowl?Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

Fiesta Bowl it is.
The 2nd INT for Will Johnson was probably the turning point. Purdue was down 9 points with ~10 minutes remaining in the 4th Q. Purdue had a little momentum after forcing M to punt. Johnson made a fantastic play for his 2nd INT of the game. Great to see the talented freshman come along.
I believe M escaped the game without any new major injuries too. Nice to see with the CFP coming up.AAL 2023 - Alim McNeill

Purdue outgained UM 456- 386 and out first downed them 27-17. It didn't feel like a blow out by no means. Even that 27 yard td scamper by Edwards was a great effort as there were two defenders just waiting for him and DE just juked them..
Overall, Purdue may be underrated and UM once again looks like they play like meh.. for a good portion of the game then just wear out the opponent and walk away with another win. This next one will show us everything we need to know about this team.

All that being said, I don't think the officiating had any effect on the outcome of the game. That is surprising, because McGinn's crew is usually very flag happy, and especially so with Michigan. They allowed both teams to get away with stuff, but they flagged the stuff that was necessary. On a 5 point scale, with 5 being a perfectly officiated ballgame, I'd give them about a 3.9"The stockings were hung by the chimney with care, .. I'd worn them for weeks, and they needed the air"

I agree the replay took way too long, but I don’t think it was a catch. It was bobbled as he landed. IMO they got the call right but it took an inordinate amount of time, no doubt."The problem with quotes on the Internet is that it is sometimes hard to verify their authenticity." -Abraham Lincoln
