I was accused of sandbagging earlier when I said that Corum was going to be less than 100%. If this is true regarding Hayes, then its worse than we thought.

Seems to me if everything was 'fine' with Corum, he would have said so when he was passing out food to the needy. Instead, he said "I'll be back". Does that mean he'll be back on Saturday, in the bowl game, or next season?

Source? I know, Ryan Hayes, but in what venue did he say this? Overheard, in class, where?

This kind of thing is like fall camp injuries ....... some one reports, I heard, second hand, from whomever so and so, broke his leg and is oout for the season ........ it usually turns out to be bull-shit. I'm not saying Corum is going to play. I have no idea and I don't think anyone else outside of Schembechler Hall does either and I doubt an active player would take on the shit he's going to get for leaking something like this if it's correctly attributed to him.

I saw that but wasn't going to bring it up b/c I'm not sure what to make of it myself. I have not seen any recording of him saying those exact words. Edwards is probably out with aggravated injury again and Stokes is hurt as well. If you watch the fourth quarter it was Gash and Dunlap for the final drive as Stokes was out.

247 and SI and many Twitter accounts have reported it, but nothing locally. So I take it with a grain of salt. We're really not going to find out how badly he is hurt till Saturday. He might give it a go and realize it's not going to work, I hope Stokes isn't hurt badly.

Here is the so-called quote from Monday's media day, take it for what it is.

Hayes said during his media availability on Monday afternoon. “He’s a great player, but I think everybody else is just going to step up with him out and we’re up to the challenge, and I think that we’re up to the challenge.”

That's good stuff Wingy. I just checked out mgoboard. Nothing on this Hayes comment. I can almost guarantee that if someone posted that comment on the mgo message board it would have been immediately taken down by the mods.

Brian Cook is death on stuff like this. He and his editors have some access and putting the Hayes quote on his web site when it may not be accurate, a misquote, is out of context or anything else like that he'd hear from media authorities within the AD and mgo's access would suffer.

Hayes was asked IF Corum doesn’t play. He gave the answer he gave, but question matters a great deal.

It doesn’t matter if we have 3 Blake Corums at 100%. We can’t pass the ball more than 5 yards down field.

For too many years I care to remember Michigan fans have contorted themselves into believing that: we’ve been holding back and not letting OSU see our “good stuff”. Suddenly Michigan will unleash the *real* offense in the last game of the season.

Look. JJ can’t hit the broad side of a barn. Especially if it’s moving. And if he does, our receivers will watch the ball go through their hands and have it bounce off their face Mask.

If Michigan is fortunate enough to find themselves in a goal-to-go situation, they’ll run Corum, on one leg, into the pile 3 successive plays. It will end on a FG. Fortunately, Moody will make all his kicks and we’ll only lose 42-12.

Ohio State’s pass defense is atrocious and routinely gives up at least one huge play every game. JJ is going to have a career day.

More hyperbole ....... good pass defenses in the BIG are giving up low- mid 160 ypg. Nationally M is a good pass D (161 ypg) and ranked # 5. OSU is #11 nationally and giving up 175 - hardly an "atrocious" pass D. The Delta is insignificant. Schools in the "atrocious" league are giving up way over 250.

I don't agree completely with Mike in his assessment of M's passing offense. I posted earlier that I think there's a good chance that Harbaugh has limited RPOs for a number of good reasons, the biggest that he doesn't want JJ to take hits/sustain injury. Another is M's run game - it's worked up until now; why get pass happy v. opponents that you can just sit on. I don't subscribe to the view, as does Mike, that M is holding back for OSU.

Any coach who was scheming a defense v. M this season knew, after 3 or 4 games on M's schedule, that M might show the formations and offensive look for an RPO but they didn't run them. After M realized that defensive coaches had caught on, they stopped even trying to show anything resembling an RPO. There was one game, PSU, where post game analysers thought JJ was running RPOs. He appeared to be making reads on his keys - some good, some not so good. Other than that one game, NADA.

There are obvious concerns that M's run game won't be great v. OSU. Unless Harbaugh is a complete stubborn idiot, he'd be nuts thinking he can go into the Horse Shoe and win without McCarthy having reasonable successful throwing the ball. The best way to achieve that, under the circumstances of injury to Corum amd given JJ's limitations in the deep zones, is to run a sufficient number of RPOs to present a credible threat to the OSU D. JJ doesn't need a "career day" passing for M to manage a win. M's offense needs the real, not faked, threat that JJ can either run it or pass it after the snap. M's O dies without that threat.
