  • It's also worth noting that talent was right about OSU's weaknesses. CBs and Ss tackled poorly and gave up some big plays when Knowles plan was to count on them. JJ had a good day, not a great day through the air but it was good enough. Big plays by both teams were on the menue - M got way more of them than the Buckeyes.

The back breaking thing for OSU's D was when M broke out the RO for JJ and Mullen's advantaged how OSU stuffs the box and vacates coverage by lobbing a throw to Schoonmaker just over the DL (It's a TD if Mullens was 6'2" instead of 5-10).

Knowles managed to give up more plays > 45y in the history of OSU's defense. Thank you.

      • Glad to say I told you so...Here's my post from 11/November 23, 2022, 03:53 PM

I like the mood leading up to this game and all the hype about Stroud and how McCarthy has regressed. This is clearly a big stage for McCarthy but I'm going to go out a limb and predict he will perform much better than anyone expects. He is due.

          • The big passing plays were so key and unexpected.
Two huge TDs from Corn Johnson… Loveland big TD…. Halfback “Tebow style” pass to Schoonmaker. Love them all!
Running game opened up with JJ’s legs and more spread out formation looks in the 2nd half.
I was worried because the offense looked like total crap until that first huge Corn Johnson TD. All of this done without Corum.

            Masterclass by Harbaugh and company.

The win today is exhibit A of what Harbaugh his molded M football into. It is a true team. Today's win, he said in the WTKA post game was a true team effort. He then went down the list of great plays by players on both offense and defense that stepped up when M's Heisman contributor, Blake Corum, was down and out.

I won't deny that's feelings ball about this team but certainly it was football players balling, making critical plays at critical moments. Units that are molded together, work together to achieve goals unselfishly together are true winners.

You saw a very talented but disorganized OSU team that wasn't together and it showed. Harbaugh took 18-23 year old soldiers on the battlefield of football, molded them as a unit over the season, and won a huge battle today. That's what Jim Harbaugh has done, did today that Ryan Day apparently hasn't done and certainly didn't do today. That has got to hurt.

                • UM's secondary is criminally underrated. They were outstanding when they need to be today. Sanristil is a beast.

You beat me to it, Max. Sainristill gets my nomination as the defensive player of the game for his tip away of a certain TD pass from their TE. The ball is in the TE's hands, and Sainristill manages to push it out causing the incompletion. Had OSU gotten that TD at that point, M's lead would have only been 4, with a long way to go. Instead, the TD was denied, and right after that Edwards breaks off his 82 yard romp. Effectively a 14 point swing.

This win is bigger than last year's win, and I agree with Hanni that this game replaces the 1969 game as M's best win of the entire series. No way should M have won there today. Not without Corum, and not with how they played last week against Illinois.

CRD won't be fired over this, but I couldn't help but notice in the Fox post game, a lot of OSU fans were chanting "we want Urban". They are spoiled, just like we were in the 90's.

                          • Sainristil did give up a 40+ pass to Egbuka, but that’s nitpicky of me to mention it. The Sainristil pass breakup on Stover that followed was so clutch and brilliant. You love to see his career go like this. From backup WR to clutch starting nickel CB.

M’s DBs tackle very well in space. Came up big today. Yes, the 1 on 1 contested balls might be their slight weakness.

                              1. UGA
                              2. M
