Random comment....I have the ABC Broadcast synced with WTKA Radio. Doug Karsh is doing play by play and John Jansen doing color. Wow. So good! The ABC production is worthless. No replays because the director is taking his cameras to focus on Neb's coach, the sidelines, whatever. To synch, it takes recording the live broadcast then synching it to the radio broadcast. Radio is shade behind but easy to sync.
On the passing game. Jansen comments that they practiced the long ball all week - major part of the game plan. He concludes to get the long ball going, you have to put it up. The WTKA sideline guy (???) thought they were pressing the passing game too early.
It's Taylor Lewan on the sideline reporting.Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

Jason Avant is also reporting - not sure if both of them were down there or Lewan is just a visitor on the sidelines. Think the latter. Jansen is arguing for a spy on the QB. Too many big gains from QB scrambling. Also Hoenig doing rules interp. Great radio!Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. They still left too many points out on the field. And they're letting Nebraska's QB run around too much. Got to get someone on him.
Corum seems to be okay. There was some talk that he was dealing with some bumps and bruises, but he looks okay.
And if they were 'working on the long ball' this week, it isn't showing up on the field. JJ still can't hit enough of them to make the long ball a threat."in order to lead America you must love America"

RG3 said they were practicing the long ball all week. Now JJ is forcing it how many times, when it's not even there? And where is Donovan Edwards, seems to be hurt? Seen him about 3 plays in the first then he disappeared. Looked it up couldn't find anything but this.

Donovan Edwards IS standing on the sidelines, but has not played in a bit. Unsure what's up

As predicted: domination in the stats, not on the score. There's a lot of things amiss here in the first half. (1) Some of the play calls between the 20s don't seem complimentary. (2) My take is that the long ball suffers from McCarthy's trajectory and placement. One intermediate throw with some air under it that allowed Bell to snag it and get YAC. One rocket to Roman Wilson but the 4 deep balls were thrown flat and/or poorly placed - this could be receivers not getting the separation they need to get to the spot where McCarthy is targeting. It really hurts the offense because the long ball - stretching the field - is just not a threat. Teams good at stopping the run to begin with can afford to stay in man and get numbers in the box. (3) Clock management at the end of the half. Lots of opportunities to preserve a shot to the end zone then kick a FG but confusion reigned - refs didn't help letting the clock tick down while they figured out the illegal substitution.... of course JH should have called a time out earlier after the pass play to the 15. There's more - the offense was just not elite and if M wants to compete with the big boys, it has to be. To me doesn't look like that is going to happen in 2022.
WIthout Thompson and now probably out Purdy - down to their reserves at QB, Neb has no chance. Even then, if Purdy were to return, and he's the one guy that booked some gains for the Huskers, Minter will have the QB scramble dealt with in the second half. Purdy had 40% of Nebraska's 103 total yards. Logan isn't going to get close to that and it doesn't appear he's going to be a threat at all (sacked, dropped the ball on a low snap - not sharp).
I've got the recorder going. Heading out - I'll watch the second half tomorrow.
Illinois lost creating the potential for a 4 way tie in the BTW at the end of the day. Right now Purdue and Illinois are both at 4-3 in conference and tied, at the moment, for first in the west. Illinois not looking like the threat they we thought they might be 2 weeks ago.Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off.
