Make it impossible for two people to walk side by side.

The door to the field would only cost Michigan about 20-30 seats, tops, and it could be placed just north of the current tunnel.

That should take care of Franklin's bellyaching, and keep sparty out of the way of the home team.
It wouldn't be nearly that easy. Remember, it's an actual tunnel beneath the stadium. It runs from street level on the east side of the stadium and descends down to the playing field. The outside entrance shown here is probably about 50 rows above the field.

Entering from this direction, the Michigan locker room is to the immediate left and the visitors to the right. To make another one of these, you'd have to burrow through that entire width of the east side of the stadium, which is some 95 rows of bleachers plus the new structure with the club level and suites. I suppose you could attach the tunnel to the other other side of the visiting locker room but it seems like a hell of a big expense and hassle because ONE team can't control themselves.

There's some stupid-assed article on 11 Warriors that claims Saturday marked the 3rd fight in Michigan's last 7 home games. Which is utter nonsense. There was some jawing between Michigan and OSU last year and with PSU this year but both teams were divided by the officials and there were no physical altercations. There's a widely circulated 3 minute video (that I posted here) of Michigan and PSU walking up the tunnel after the game and everyone was completely fine. If Sparty wants a separate entrance to the field, they can fucking pay for it.

Ah come on.. we're all supposed to be getting driven around by our electric cars in 10 years- despite having no real/practical idea of how to make batteries- or generate enough "clean" electricity to do so..

Compared to that, this will be a piece of cake and the can just do it when they put in the new scoreboards.

        • If the tunnel is genuinely an issue, then Michigan does need to quietly change its procedures for making sure that the teams stay separate. But that's a distraction today. Issue 1 is handing out appropriate punishments once the facts of the case are in hand.

Fair enough. But I demand the augers be battery powered.

            • First hand account from a reporter who was in the scrum when McBurrows got stomped.

              Also this, lol:

A handful of Spartans passed the door headed toward their locker room. Then came the referees, who turned the corner and walked past us with an MSU team support staff member following them into the hallway, trying to get their attention to something that happened on the field. One of the refs told him they would “take a look at that” as another MSU staff member yelled down the hallway calling the refs “a bunch of bitches.”

              Seconds later, everything erupted.

                • FTR, its not part of the referee's duties to police the teams after the game is over. Once the clock hits 00:00, their job is over, unless the game is tied. Its not their responsibility to police the teams, or the (imo) STUPID 'handshake line', or anything else at that point. All of that is supposed to be the responsibility of the home team's game management, the event staff and the local authorities.

The refs are supposed to leave the field quickly, and not stop to speak to anyone.

                  • Four more MSU players have been suspended Malcolm Jones, Justin White, Jacoby Windmon and Brandon Wright. In the video that ESPN released on Monday, Windmon can be seen holding down Michigan defensive back Gemon Green while another Spartan repeatedly hit him with his helmet.

Also Michigan State football staffer Gerren DuHart was seen lowering his shoulder into Harbaugh as he was trying to get in the tunnel. This may be part of the investigation also (?)

                          • BTW, fans may continue to bash MSU for the tunnel incident but a couple things: Mel Tucker didn't create the thuggery that characterizes MSU football. He inherited it from Dantonio and Narduzzi. I think we've pretty much had that discussion.

IMO, Mel handled the post incident week well issuing a statement that was mainly apologetic and mid-week after fact gathering sent a personal apology to Jim Harbaugh. Was it forced on him by higher-ups? Maybe but it's pretty clear he took responsibility. Then he led the Spartans to a road victory over #16 Illinois that got out played and outcoached in Champaign. The team didn't tank, like it could have if not for what appears to be Tucker's leadership, and without 4 starters on defense due to suspensions.

You have to sit up and take notice. For the majority of players on that team who weren't involved in criminally assaulting M players, they stepped up and played. It was nice to see Burt get schooled. The Illini suddenly don't look as threatening when they come to AA in two weeks as they did a week ago.
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

                            • I think Illinois saw those 8 suspensions and thought msu would tank. And, they might have been looking forward a bit as well.

I'll give tucker just a tad of credit for not tanking the season from the coaches office. He could have wrote off the season, but instead got his guys ready to play.

But respect for that program is something that I'll not have for a very long time. I doubt they miss my respect anyway.
