It was some young men who lashed out and started a scuffle after an emotional rivalry loss. I’m missing the outrage. Was anyone really hurt? Suspend the offenders for a game or whatever and call it done.

In some cases, I’d agree, but it was about 8:1 and they were kicking and punching the guy when he was on the ground. But I do also agree with Talent that this likely did not occur in a vacuum and some shenanigans preceded the altercation. I find it unlikely that 8 Spartans just jumped McBurrows without at least a bit of provocation.

At any rate, I’d want to know the whole story here before either handing out criminal charges or dismissing it as just “kids being kids”.

Simply...a gang beating on an individual is inexcusable, regardless of whether the victim instigated it. If I'm Tucker these thugs are at least gone for the season. Frankly, I would not tolerate anyone on my team that lacks this type of self control.

But yeah .. McCarthy was running his mouth during the game .. and Harbaugh called for a pass trying to score again late ... so its understandable why sparty decided to act this way ...

According to both the Detroit Snooze and Freep, it SOUNDS like adults on both sides are taking control of the situation last night. MSU President Stanley has already issued an apology and he's spoken to M's President Ono. Stanley promised MSU's full cooperation with the B1G and police investigations. Stanley said such behavior was embarrassing and will not be tolerated at MSU. But, he's not going to be President very much longer. He's leaving in January. Hopefully the new president will take up where Stanley leaves off, because M has to go to east landfill next season, and their stadium also has a one-tunnel entrance/exit. Lets hope the adults are in charge there as well.

The MSU band was right behind us, and the only time they stopped playing was during the three times that they filed in and out of our section. So, yes, it was no small accomplishment that there were no punches thrown.

Well, they WERE the victims of a sophomore quarterback who was talking smack to them during the game. And HARBAUGH!!!!! tried to run the score up on them with about 2 minutes to go .. so ... I suppose the only REASONABLE course of action for ANY msu player at that point was to attack a solitary already-injured Michigan player, and 'teach him a lesson'.

Fully understandable. Nothing to see here. Move on.
