  • Keeping it close I guess, I would have liked to take the points on the 4th and 1.

    • I would have taken the points if your other option was a dumbass counter into 5 unblocked players

      • But ANALYTICS.

Rough half for Corn Johnson. He was the primary culprit for that offsides on 4th & 3. He was also on the field for the offense after the fumble. Johnson must be an elite run blocker or something. Can’t explain the playing time…

They always do. ABC/ESPN coverage of football is the shittiest out of all of the networks.

We are really bad at short yardage, they keep on trying to force the issue. You Reed/Coleman/Barker/Carr and all those guys create matchup issues.

              • Not a lot unexpected except I anticipated a much faster start for M. M is outrushing MSU, has more first downs, more total yards, winning TOP, controlling the game flow. Red zone TDs a continuing problem and that's why MSU has managed a one score game and M doesn't appear to be dominating. The numbers say differently. The scoreboard, and that's what counts, doesn't. but credit to MSU player intensity. Definitely bringing it to the game in equal measures to M.

MSU leads in explosive plays - another reason they are in this. Thorne has had a great game ..... puts up catchable balls that, even when contested, Coleman makes the catch. While M can't stop Coleman, MSU can't stop Corum - 13 carries, 76 yards, 1 TD. That is going to wear on MSU in the 2nd half. McCarthy has been OK, 9-13, 120, 1 TD nothing to complain about.

Tucker wins the stupid calls battle going for it on 4th and 1 inside M's 10 and not getting it. FG was the play there.

Looking forward, confidently for now, to the 2nd half. M will receive to open the third quarter. Limit mistakes, do what M does best. Win the battle.
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

                • Once again, the worst pass defense in the land makes our passing game look like H.S.

                  • Smart 2nd half adjustment by Jesse Minter. Giving the outside CBs help with the safeties. I’m guessing if this was Don Brown calling the defense, that wouldn’t be the case. More Don Brown aggressive zero blitzes and being burnt by crossing routes!!

                    • Something really has to change with the passing game. I don't know if it's getting rid of separate "pasing game" and "running game" coordinators but when you consider the talent that we supposedly have available to throw and catch footballs our passing game is way too mediocre.

                      • The problem with the passing game tonight so far is the quarterback.

They take turns. If it's not the QB, it's guys not getting open. And if it's guys not getting open, it's shitty playcalling.

                          • Red zone offense remains an issue. Disappointing considering the OLine is elite.
… Out of sync play calling … McCarthy being so inexperienced / inconsistent.

                            • He has been ok hitting guys in stride in the middle of the field, but his accuracy outside the hashes has been way off. It's not going to matter in this game, but it's a problem.

                              • I guess we're seeing no why the QB battle was actually close. Both QBs are pretty average.
