Iowa has lost a LB for the remainder of the season.

Iowa junior linebacker Jestin Jacobs, who has been hampered by a soft-tissue injury since Week 1, is having season-ending surgery, coach Kirk Ferentz said.

Iowa in their home field is a bit of a different beast, but this is a noon game, not night. I'd say JJ learns a lot from Maryland and we actually do decent in this game. They have a great defense, that will limit you quite a bit, but their offense is garbage. I'd say something like 27-7 Michigan for the day. JJ gets it together and plays a better game as Iowa sells out to stop the run. You better bet JJ is being coached up a lot this week.

We haven’t exactly been good there in the daytime either. We lost nooners there in 2011 and 2013 and ironically the best game that we have played there in the past 17 years was the 2009 Night game. The last time that we legitimately looked good in a game there was 1991. All of our wins since then have been total eyesores. That includes the 12-9 vomit session in Hayden Fry’s last season.

Hopefully history is not predictive here. But Iowa is a tough place to play, especially since NONE of our team has ever played there before.

What I hope for is a similar result to what Michigan did last year at Wisconsin. Michigan hadn't won at Camp Randall in over a decade, but they went in there and played a game that probably defined their season.

One hope I have is that even though Iowa has "the best run defense in the nation", one look at their record shows it hasn't exactly come against the likes of Alabama, Georgia and Clemson. South Dakota, Nevada and Iowa State aren't exactly a world better than Michigan's first three games.

The potential for a Iowa win exists, but only if Michigan's own defense has its worst game of the season.

Harbaugh has not had great luck on the road against the Hawkeyes as a player (lost 2x) or as a coach. As Michigan’s coach, his 1st and only game at Iowa happened in November 2016. At the time, Michigan was the No. 2 team in the country and Iowa pulled off a 1-point win. Then his 2021 team, turned around and kicked Iowa's ass in the BT Championship game 12/2021.

The team that will show up at Kinnick in 2022 is the same one that Harbaugh's 2021 Championship team handled convincingly in Indianapolis. As a program, Michigan’s last win in Kinnick Stadium came in 2005. So, there is that. 2021 showed M can shed the shackles of past losses to rivals and in stadiums that have proven troublesome with focused play. I expect that characterization will repeat itself tomorrow. I just don't see an upset.

This is a man on man, unit on unit match-up and at every position, every unit, M matches up well. Go Blue!
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

I think we’ll win but won’t be surprised if we lose. Side note: really enjoying Iowa City. It’s like Ann Arbor without all the pretentiousness.

I like Jeff's point about these two teams still being pretty much the same groups that played in Indy just a few months ago. We're missing three big pieces of that team (Hutch, Ojabo, Haskins) but Iowa hasn't added a lot either.

Whichever way this goes, its going to define just what this team is. Just like the Wisconsin game did last year.

M isn't that different of a team than last season when we beat them 42-7. McCarthy just can't make the big mistake. Actually Iowa is bad enough offensively he can probably get away with 1, but two big mistakes starts to make the game a close game Iowa could steal.

Iowa has as good a chance of scoring today as Talent in a straight bar...
                        Shut the fuck up Donny!

Iowa will actually score, I think. They'll pull out some sort of special wrinkle that'll cause all of the doomsayers to start screaming in the first half.

It won't be enough, though. This is still essentially the Iowa team that got blown out of Lucas Oil last December. OTOH, JJ, Corum, Edwards and the receivers will assert their superiority in the second have and M will win running away. Final: 34-17 or so.

Injury Update: Michigan’s full team took the field with about 45 minutes to go before kickoff. All of the below players were dressed except for All, who did not make the trip. Michigan’s first-team offensive line was Ryan Hayes, Keegan, Olu Oluwatimi, Zak Zinter and Trente Jones. Barnhart is also dressed and available. Linebacker Nikhai Hill-Green also did not travel with the team. RB Donovan Edwards and OLs Trevor Keegan and Karsen Barnhart made the trip for the Wolverines and are available to play this afternoon. Tight end Erick All is unavailable for the second week in a row.

I had this as a 17-13 Michigan win, mainly because I remain terrified of the Kinnick Effect, especially on top five teams. But this has started very well.

7-0 Michigan, as Ronnie Bell cashes in on the reverse.

Now, THAT is a cool tradition.

Thanks Michigan guys, for joining in the wave to the kids at the cancer center.
