PSU was once UNL's divisional "crossover" rival. UNL and PSU have a pretty good history from the 70's and 80's...

There was a poll about five years ago asking each fan base which team was their primary rival. UM was the # 1 "rival" for 6-7 schools. NW, WIS, MIN, MSU, OSU, ILL, IOWA, and one other. ILL in particular was overwhelmingly in favor of UM as a rival going back to Moeller and the way he was treated (Bo's beatdown of his successor). It takes more than some B10 bureaucrat to create a rivalry.

Really, how many B10 schools view ILL, NW, or PUR as a primary rival?

I say let a computer devise a random schedule of 10 conference games without "rivals" and then have a playoff among the top 4 teams.
When PSU first came into the conference the B1G bigwigs tried to make PSU v MSU a 'thing' just like M v osu. It never really happened. They still play for some silly thing called a land grant trophy or some such nonsense, but it never really became a rivalry. They have too many common enemies to be enemies themselves.

Purdue and Indiana play something of a rivalry game every year, and I've heard NW and Illinois is something of a rivalry. Minnesota and Iowa play for a pig statue or some silliness like that. It seems like Wisconsin plays somebody for an axe, ... but I don't remember who the opponent is.

I've said before, to much ridicule in here, that I feel Michigan is everybody's "big" game. At least that's true for most of the conference. I think when USC and UCLA come in, they'll be shooting for Michigan more than anyone else as well.

I don't disagree, if Penn State gets their choice of 1 rival; that'll likely be Ohio State their second rival will be chosen for them... If Maryland gets their 1st choice of a rival, that would be Penn State... Everybody gets their first choice as rival, even if its alleged rival doesn't really see it as one... There isn't an obvious answer for 1, 2, 3 rivalry games when USC & UCLA join; my preference is 2 and my expectation is the B1G goes to 10 conference games to increase inventory and make the TV partners happy.

Yup. He was pointing to himself right after it.

That and CJ falling down cost them a fresh set of downs.

UConn isn't going to be able to play from behind the chains at all today.

Henning is going to commit a turnover on one of his punt catches someday. Dude has way too much courage.

Got a nice break from the refs on that kick catch interference there.

                        Keegan out of the game.

But no problem for Corum. 2nd TD of the day for Blake.

That was an iffy call. Thank you ref.
