Well, what if it rains Saturday night? Is it still 50? I doubt it. The NWS is predicting a 40% chance of rain on Saturday night. A cold front will develop west of the state on Thursday moving gradually eastward. Right now, Friday's weather is nice while Friday night and into Saturday it deteriorates as the front passes over then through SE MI. It does not look like a ball-buster front with Tstorms and hihg winds but it will preoduce rain showers starting later on Saturday and throughout the evening hours. It will clear on Sunday.
Now, all of this is subject to the vagaries of predicting the weather in SE MI. It's early. Shit happens. The most likely positive scenario is that the front moves more quickly than presently anticipated. It is being pushed by a strong Hi pressure system to the west. Whether that is possible will become more apparent by Wednesday or Thursday. I probably do know more about weather forecasting than "all-around-good guy" talent. So, given that I predict a wet football game v. the Bows on Saturday night. SInce he knows a lot more about betting lines than I do, I'll defer to his acumen in the impact of rain on the point spread.
Is 50 "still in play?"
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.
Torrential downpour might. Steady rain, no. M can hand the ball off. That's all they need. Vanderbilt ran for 400 yards on 40 carries. (ok, 404 on 44). Hawaii, meanwhile, probably needs ideal conditions to have a prayer of moving the ball.
Personally, if I were actually betting a lot on this, I'd hope for some rain. Maybe it drives the spread down a point or two. And Corum and Edwards will still average 8+ per carry whether it's raining or not.
What the rain probably does is maybe hamper the 3rd teamers a little.
Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]? Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.
In 1998, we played Hawaii. It was 35-3 at halftime. We were tearing through them like tissue paper. Then Lloyd inserted the 2nd stringers+Drew Henson in the 2nd half and the team pretty much quit playing. Lloyd was so pissed that he actually put the first stringers back into the game to send a message to the second string. Final score was 48-17.
I remember that game, but not like you did. Michigan did not start off well, very slugish even though Hawaii looked so overmatched. Hawaii even had the lead late into the first quarter. Hawaii had over 300 yards passing that night while Michigan didn't even have 200, I think Michigan had one more first down the whole game and around 100 total yards more. It was a sloppy game all around coming off 1997

You are right about the first quarter . We came out of the locker room pretty flat. Hawaii got three points thanks to one long fluky catch-and-run. Then the asswhipping started.
Hawaii piled up yardage in the second half while our offense was sludgefarting around and the defense took the rest of the night off. Oh man that 2nd half was brutal.
What a bizarre year that was for us all around. That was the first of at least a few times that coach Lloyd salvaged some seasons with a late surge.
Highlights! Tom Brady before he went on to win the Orange Bowl and then five Super Bowls. Anthony Thomas running super fast despite short strides that make him look like he's running for the bathroom trying to not shit in his pants.
The minny game in the rain. UM was avg. like 40 yards a carry for the first 3 quarters. Rain is almost a non factor. It's cold rain or torrents and wind that can curtail a superior offense. Also, how bad can Hawaii be on defense. Are they worse than the military schools that have routinely shut down UM's offenses even though they were outsized by 40-50 pounds on the lines.
Michigan 62, Hawaii 3. I'd like to see the QB competition go on for another couple of games before Harbaugh names a starter. If J.J. McCarthy is going to win the starting job, he ought to have to pass something resembling a real test. I'm not sure this Hawaii team qualifies.

Credit Hawaii for their helmets being so far ahead of their time. They had Pride before it was "cool"!
