I think the Lindsey hire gives Moore an assistant that at the very least, has a better resume than Campbell did. As far as I know, this was Campbells' first appointment as a OC. He's always been a position coach before that. But, JJ McCarthy swears by him, so it wouldn't surprise me at all to see Campbell resurface somewhere, and coach QB's again, and do very well.
As far as Lindsey, I'd like to see him come in and coach Underwood the same way he'd coach a young Lamarr Jackson. Underwood is eventually going to be a guy who every time he touches the ball, can create big plays. I think we may have to grit our teeth a bit in Year 1, but after that, this kid is going to be special. Surround him with the best talent you can get, and then fasten your seat belt. The more this kid learns the game, the better he's going to be. But they can't make Underwood the "next" JJ McCarthy. That's not his game. As I said, I think the best approach will be to coach him like he's another Lamarr Jackson.I don't always roll a joint, but when I do, its usually my ankle

Its still not official but I think there's enough chatter to say Chip Lindsey is Moore's pick to be his OC. His last gig was at UNC with recently fired HC Mack Brown. From what I'm reading, the hire isn't flashy that represents a major shift in Moore's offensive philosophy but, more a hire that's a good fit for what Moore wants to do and the offense we've been seeing for the last 3 years.
Lindsey, as an indication of offensive philosophy, heavily incorporates the downfield passing game. While limited by talent at the QB and WR positions, there was not much greater than zero downfield passing this year with Campbell at OC. That's going to change if M hits the portal hard picking the best from a long list of talented WRs that have entered the portal already.
Lindsey's offenses have been balanced between run and pass but he has rarely run plays with 12 personnel. He runs more 11 personnel plays. That is going to change with M's (Moore's) emphasis on the TE. That's an easy change. He also hasn't displayed a penchant for extra linemen in short yardage situations.
Clearly, Lindsey is going to need a good downfield passing QB with one year of eligibility ready to start or, if that QB has more than a year of eligibility, the willingness to become a backup to Underwood possibly in year one or definitely after that. Anyway, there's decent diary at mgo with a good rundown, based on his resume, of what kind of OC Lindsey is likely to be. The link below was part of that diary and is decent:

UNC’s starting QB suffered a season ending injury week 1 vs Minnesota if I remember it correctly… watching that game live. Always felt like UNC’s defense was Mack Brown’s achilles heel at UNC.
That said, nobody should give Lindsey credit for developing Drake Maye. He was a known product and a clear cut top 5 draft choice entering the 2023 season. That’s when I was posting here on the forum about being shocked how Maye didn’t transfer portal to a bigger school.
Hit the transfer portal hard at WR and I’ll feel great about the Underwood/ Lindsey offense.AAL 2023 - Alim McNeill

Ex-Fresno State QB Mikey Keene committed to M yesterday. He seemed very frisky vs M week 1 this season. Short and with a goofy throwing motion. Perhaps poor man’s and short Shea Patterson as a comparison? Some competition for Bryce Underwood. Maybe Underwood will take the DJ Lagway (Florida) route to starting by getting the job mid-season.
So did Jaydn Davis not enter the transfer portal? Also, does Davis Warren have 1 more season of eligibility? I’m confused with what’s going on with those QBs. The more depth, the better.AAL 2023 - Alim McNeill

I don't think Jadyn Davis has entered the portal. Jayden Denagal did and has committed to San Diego State. That's confusing.
QUARTERBACKPROBABLES: Jadyn Davis (Fr.*), Bryce Underwood (Fr.)MAYBES: Davis Warren (Sr.*), Alex Orji (Jr.*)NEED: Senior stopgap who will start in front of Davis and Underwood.Folks are reporting that Michigan will go in the portal in search of a stopgap to compete with—and likely start over—Davis and Underwood. I'm sure Michigan would welcome Warren and Orji back but one or both may seek playing time elsewhere since it doesn't seem likely either will be starting for Michigan in the future.[Fuller]USC's Miller Moss has been linked to Michigan since he was replaced as the starter in LA a few weeks ago, and those links have migrated from relatively obscure reporters to Bruce Feldman himself. Moss just set up visits with Mizzou and Louisville, with no mention of Michigan getting one yet. Pete Nakos reports that Louisville is going to be "aggressive" with Moss.ESPN put together a handy list of 25 QBs to watch in the portal that doesn't have a lot of appealing options if we restrict ourselves to considering one-year stopgaps. The hypothetical targets:Moss.Billy Edwards, MarylandKyron Drones, VTHudson Card, PurdueThomas Castellanos, BCTyler Van Dyke, WisconsinKaidon Salter, LibertyChandler Morris, North TexasMikey Keene, Fresno StatePreston Stone, SMUNot exactly Cam Ward and Dillon Gabriel.I don't like any of the small-school options. We saw Keene's pop-gun arm in person; Morris is probably 5'10"; Salter has 21 fumbles in two years as a starter and plays for a team that invests far more in their program than the large majority of their opponents. (Michigan does not appear on Salter's early list.)Please do not pelt me with objects for saying this, but… I might be interested in Edwards? Maryland may have had the worst offensive line in a power conference this year. They are 133rd in both pass and run blocking, per PFF. Edwards was massively overutilized because Maryland had no prayer of running the ball; before the Terps threw their hands up and tried MJ Morris in the Iowa game Edwards was averaging 46 dropbacks per game(!).Edwards's attempts are necessarily restricted to a lot of screens and punt-and-pray fades down the sideline; in that context his 7.4 YPA on non-screens and 21:11 big-time to turnover-worthy throw ratio seems pretty good. He has the arm to do some things:He's also a reasonable runner. If Moss doesn't end up at Michigan, Edwards seems like the best fit.If Michigan does want to lean into QB run more, Drones is interesting. He rushed for almost 1000 yards in 2023; that came down quite a bit this year as Drones struggled with injury for much of the year. He is not exactly polished as a passer but he's functional enough.[After THE JUMP: the other positions, you know how this goes]
EDGEPROBABLES: TJ Guy (Sr.*), Cam Brandt (Jr.), Breeon Ishmail (So.*), Aymeric Koumba (So.*), Ludgard Edokpayi (Fr.*), Dominic Nichols (So.), Devon Baxter (Fr.*), Nate Marshall (Fr.), Benny Patterson (Fr.), Julius Holly (Fr.)MAYBE: Derrick Moore (Sr.), Kechaun Bennett (Sr.*)Moore looks like a fringe NFL draft prospect, with PFN and Draft Buzz projecting him mid-to-late on day three. This is a scenario that would often induce a guy to enter in the pre-NIL era; nowadays staying in school can be more compelling. A fifth-rounder gets a four-year deal that's about one million per year, which is a number a program like Michigan can match or at least get close to, particularly with House expected to be in effect this fall. His return would give Michigan two very solid options at DE, as Guy should be a quality Big Ten starter as a senior. Behind the presumed starters Michigan has Cam Brandt, who seems to be tracking towards being a solid rotation guy but not a star, and a lot of lottery tickets. If Moore goes Michigan needs an experienced, starter-quality end. If he stays they should probably still be interested in a guy with two or three years of eligibility left who would provide a higher floor than Michigan's collection of high-upside question marks from the last few classes.Michigan has not been linked to anyone yet unless you count Zahir Mathis, a high school recruit who decommitted from OSU and is scheduled to be on campus this weekend.[After THE JUMP: Michigan's portal QB coming into focus]
Here's another portal article that's pretty complete and updated.

I throw another possibility in there for Orji. I'd like to see him used like ohio state did with Ted Ginn. Put him in the slot, and back off the line. He doesn't have speed like Ginn, but it might be fun seeing him in the open field.
He played against Alabama, but I think he's still going to leave via the portal.I don't always roll a joint, but when I do, its usually my ankle

Rumors getting some traction that Wink is headed back to the NFL. You can read about them, if you haven't already, at the link below. There are a handful of contributors/posters at mgo that are worth reading their takes. Most however aren't. If you frequent mgo, you'll know whose posts are worth the read and who to just scroll past:
Per footballscoop.comAtlanta: The Falcons are interviewing Michigan defensive coordinator Wink Martindale for their defensive coordinator opening Jonathan Jones has reported. This was Wink's first season at Michigan. He previously has served as defensive coordinator of the Giants, Ravens, and Broncos.
