Orji's problems last year and maybe showing improvement in camp was getting 99% of his reads (when he was given the option) wrong. Related, Alex Drain did a UFR Offense of M v. Washington that revealed Harbaugh/Moore appeared to call the RO for McCarthy only twice with both getting 12 and 22 yards. There was also a chronic/continuing absence of the PA. According to Drain the PA was not called enough versus how the Washington defense was playing M. After getting gashed in the first half on the ground, the Huskies started playing very aggressively with run blitzes. It was the perfect defense to exploit with the PA. Didn't happen and didn't happen much during the regular season either. Drain surmised the coaching staff didn't want McCarthy taking big hits giving up the opportunity for big plays to keep JJ upright and healthy. We know that the 2023 OL, in particular the OTs, tended to get beaten leaving McCarthy vulnerable to blitzes with unblocked thunder sacks and strip sacks.Last edited by Jeff Buchanan; August 23, 2024, 02:09 PM.Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. I wasn't aware of Tuttle's situation when I posted that.
Orji or Warren. Hmmm.
Maybe the NCAA will let us have McNamara back from Iowa because they CHEATED when they recruited him....
Yeah, right... 🤣🤣"The stockings were hung by the chimney with care, .. I'd worn them for weeks, and they needed the air"

With the formal delivery of the alleged sins against the NCAA, Michigan now has 90 days to respond. I hope they send their response electronically, at 11:59:59 on November 25.
After that, Michigan can request a full formal hearing, which as I understand, they will. That will take a few more months.
Gut feeling here is that at sometime during the hearing process, they'll hammer out a settlement.
So now, who will the leakers at the NCAA choose to leak the documents to first?

There are some questions about what prompted M's quick withdrawal of their lawsuit seeking injunctive relief that they filed in Washtenaw County on November, 2023. Did the B10 or NCAA have some damaging information that was withheld from the public involving proof that Stallions wasn't a rogue actor or that Matt Weiss hacked OSU's servers and stole practice tape? At least that's been the speculation.
I think that the Big and the NCAA will have to show their hold cards, if they exist at all, that shows that Harbaugh knew about or should have known about Stallion's activities or that Matt Weiss hacked and stole practice tape from OSU's servers before The Game. It's been Harbaugh's position since day one that he didn't know about nor was involved in Stallion's or Weiss's activities.
Reportedly, the FBI has been investigating Matt Weiss for hacking OSU's servers and stealing practice tapes and has been for months. Proof that Weiss hacked OSU's servers and got practice tapes could be the NCAA's hold cards that were revealed to Warde Manuel who then went to the U's and Harbaugh's attorneys, and told them, we're not seeking injunctive relief and will settle with the B10 agreeing to Harbaugh's suspension. The B10 will, in turn, not go public with whatever proof the Big/NCAA thought they had on the Weiss allegations. Harbaugh is said to have reluctantly agreed to remove his name from the lawsuit so it could be withdrawn, continuing to argue he knew nothing about this stuff.
Harbaugh's decision to resign his HC position won't mean jack as the NCAA complaint now involves Michigan as an institution, not just JH, Stallions or Weiss. I guess we'll find out soon enough. I find the delivery of the NOA during game week of the opening of M's defense of their NC rather suspicious but in keeping with the NCAA's and Petiti's method of addressing their grievances involving Jim Harbaugh.Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. Regarding the Stallions/Netflix interview:
This quote is interesting:
(on the possibility that Stallions computer was hacked by OSU operatives) ... and we think it was -- that's where if I was going to try to do right I might be focusing." When an NCAA investigator declines to provide how information about Stalions was obtained, Beckworth ends the interview.
Only one reason why the NCAA would cover up where the information came from. It would implicate someone else that they are protecting.
Why does that source need to be protected? Didn't they threaten Harbaugh for failure to cooperate, and disclose his actions? He was suspended for 3 games, with no proof that he participated.
If the NCAA is the bastion of fairness and integrity, as they claim they are, then they'd have no problem disclosing where their information came from. Who squealed on Stallions? Why would that information be denied? Are they going to open the books and disclose it later? My guess is no.Last edited by lineygoblue; August 27, 2024, 11:32 AM."The stockings were hung by the chimney with care, .. I'd worn them for weeks, and they needed the air"

The one elephant in the room that the "review" of Sign Stealer didn't touch on, while questioning legalities, was that during the process of adjudicating allegations of rule breaking, all the NCAA has to do is demonstrate that their proceedings meet the criteria for due process. The NCAA is bounded only by it's own interpretation of the rules and fairness. NCAA Member Universities sign up to abide by the NCAA's authority.
Regardless, I can still see some issues for the NCAA to have to answer to with regard to the accepted standards of fairness and due process. The core of these requirements is notice and a hearing before an impartial tribunal. Due process may also require an opportunity for confrontation and cross-examination, and for discovery; that a decision be made based on the record, and that a party be allowed to be represented by counsel. One can see in the Sign Stealer piece Stalions' attorney is angling for a claim that the NCAA may have already compromised an opportunity for confrontation and discovery. Also in question, is the decision by the NCAA to issue it's NOA that M, and other named parties, broke NCAA rules. There are arguments in the review of the Sign Stealer piece that the decision to launch the NOAA was not made based on the record. The NCAA probably has some leeway here but as an outside observer, biased, of course, and not a lawyer, I can see a legitimate argument for a failure of the NCAA to follow core requirements of fairness and due process.
Because of my view on this, I disagree with Linesman that the U is going to "cave" and not oppose the NCAA's findings and will accept whatever punishments the NCAA chooses to levy. On this issue alone, I also see potential problems for the NCAA. Since there are no mandatory or defined punishments for specific rules, at the imposition of penalties (sentencing) a defendant can look at other similar circumstances (I've seen several) and compare punishments. From there, they can complain that a Level 1 violation and excessively harsh penalties for what appears to be the details in the record of rule breaking isn't warranted.Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. Oh you sweet summer child. The NCAA does not have to have or follow precedent. They rule by fiat. They make it up as they go along. They always have. Disparate penalties, punishments, and rulings are their brand.
For example:
Alabama’s punishment on Bama’s book loan program 20 years ago (our athletes aren’t given textbooks like at many schools that they can sell after the semester and pocket the money. We give them a free rental -which some athletes found a glitch that allowed them to rent books for classes they were not enrolled in, so some rented books for some non-athlete friends). Anyway. Alabama self-reported this at the same time Ball State coaches were telling their kids if they needed money, go get 10 math books and sell them. Ball State lost one scholly, and we were prison-raped for a much more minor offense that we self-reported.
The Appeals Committee never even broke the seal on our 21-page appeal. They just issued a “DENIED” ruling and laughed. So, yeah, M can complain, but the NCAA doesn’t give a shit (or they didn’t use to).Last edited by AlabamAlum; August 27, 2024, 03:45 PM."The problem with quotes on the Internet is that it is sometimes hard to verify their authenticity." -Abraham Lincoln

Dear boys, you mean M can't seek injunctive relief in the courts. I'm not talking about the arguments I suggested would be presented to the infractions committee. They would have to start there, but they will rule exactly as you identify..... DENIED. It's not going to end there.
The next step I'd assume would be to request injunctive relief in the Washtenaw Circuit Court. Do they have standing? Can they argue failure of the NCAA to follow the core principals of due process I mentioned? I dont know. But that's the course I'd take. I can't speak for Ms legal team but M is not going to bend over and take it in the ass.Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. Alabama considered it. It went nowhere. It was viewed by most as this: it’s a voluntary association and membership, sanctioned by a collective of university presidents, including Alabama’s (and Michigan’s). Buy-in for going rogue and suing the NCAA would have to start with the conference’s university presidents and, in the case of the SEC, that included a unanimous supporting vote by member schools.
Maybe M has that with OSU, MichState and the rest. Alabama certainly did not with the Tennessee’s and Auburn’s (etc)."The problem with quotes on the Internet is that it is sometimes hard to verify their authenticity." -Abraham Lincoln
