I also haven't seen Herbert mentioned much as possibly going with Jim. Tslisher's points are valid re: difference between college and NFL from a S&C standpoint. I think he stays. Minter will either be with Jim or John in Baltimore should MacDonald land a HC gig.

Good luck in the NFL, Jim, I suppose? These last three years have been great. Now let's see what Sherrone Moore can really do. He's got a lot more responsibility on him now than he had just as the interim coach. He had a great audition. Now let's see if he can do the entire act.
He's going to have a pretty rough start. He's losing tons of guys and probably a lot of really good coaches. A lot of people have mentioned Ben Herbert as a guy that we need to keep. Mike Hart is another one. Maybe make him OC/RBs coach. And while you're at it, promote our D-line guy to DC. The second priority needs to be to hit the recruiting path -- hard -- and restock the cupboard that Harbaugh is not leaving full.
Let's get on with it. Hurry up and make the announcement already.
What a crazy three years it has been. If you had told me in December of 2023 that we would beat OSU and win the Big Ten three years in a row, win a NC, and our head coach would be a guy that I never heard of until recently, I would have told you that you were nuts. But here we are.

I read last night that M has to wait 7 days to hire a coach because the position has to be 'posted for 7 days" as some sort of university rule. The article also said that the rule can be waived in certain situations. So, if Moore is their guy, they need to get on with it and get it done. Like today.
What really galls me is that Jay Harbaugh was visiting recruits as late as Tuesday evening. What do you say to a kid when you know you're leaving? Minter has been out as well. I wonder what he was saying to recruits?
I actually appreciate the entire 9 years that Harbaugh was here. The program was a laughingstock at that time he was hired, Hoke was in way over his head, and had no answers. Harbaugh changed all that. Some rough years still ensued, and some heartbreaking losses still followed, but there's no question that he has left the program far, FAR better than he found it.
I mentioned that Ben Herbert would follow Harbaugh, because I've actually heard him say it in a video put out by the athletic department. He said, "I go where Jim goes". I hope there's a way wer can keep him, because he's a major reason why the physical toughness has returned to the program. Maybe he has a protege that Michigan could hire, should he depart.
I just wish he would have done this like Saban did. He knew he was going to do this, he should have just resigned and let Michigan move on. Then he could have flirted with NFL teams all he wanted.

Sorry, just feeling a bit betrayed. And yeah, I know I shouldn't feel that way. Its was 'business'..."The stockings were hung by the chimney with care, .. I'd worn them for weeks, and they needed the air"

I think 2 weeks is appropriate. If you want a job in the NFL you do it on the NFL's timeline, not yours. The Chargers interviewed 15 candidates and Jim was scheduled to take a 2nd meeting with the Falcons today. The Chargers finally made him the right offer so he wouldn't take that meeting. He was weighing options from at least 3 teams that we know of: LA, Atlanta, and Michigan. In the meantime, he was fulfilling his current duties while flying all over the country for interviews.
If he resigned from Michigan before meeting with NFL teams, he'd lose a huge chunk of his negotiating leverage. It was widely known that he had an offer on the table from Michigan that would have made him the highest paid coach in the country. That set the baseline salary from which to start. Warde also stated that Harbaugh had an excellent line of communication with him the whole way. I'm sure he and Ono both knew that the NFL was Jim's preference at this point and if he left all they have to do is press the "Easy" button and promote Sherrone Moore.

Hoke started his career at Michigan 24-7
Mostly, I remember being mortified when he was hired, pleasantly surprised with the pixy dust 11-2 Sugar Bowl winning team of 2011, then realizing my initial instinct was correct.
