EFZ. I haven’t clue why M fans still wouldn’t be basking in the glow of their first outright national title in 75 years. JFC. 2023 was the dreamiest of dream seasons.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?
Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.

If Sherrone Moore is the next head coach, Michigan is going to have to make the most concerted effort possible to get him the assistants and support staff he needs. If Moore isn't the next head coach, then I hope Michigan hires Lance Leipold from Kansas.
Moore makes the most sense for 2024--he's earned the shot, and he has the best chance of keeping the returning players on the roster. Leipold might be the better long-term hire, though-- he's obviously more proven, and Michigan might do well severing all ties to the current staff and bringing in coaches that know how to build from the ground up.
As it is, I expect Moore will get the job, and then...it's going to be up to him and the football administration. Michigan football is heading into what I expect will be a rough patch for a while. I don't know how rough it will be, but we're going to need to adjust expectations and be realistic about what Moore and Co. can accomplish out of the gate. He's taking over a program that just won the national championship, but he's not inheriting a championship roster. Some of the elements will still be there, but a lot is going to have to be re-inforced and re-constructed. That takes hard work, and it takes time. I hope he does the work, and I hope he gets the time.

If this were a traditional coaching search situation, Liepold would be at the top of my list. But if they don’t hire Moore, there will be a mass exodus from both the current roster and recruiting. With the amount of talent that moved on we need to circle the wagons.
At any rate, I’m excited to see how it goes!

My comment about everyone getting what they want refers to Harbaugh's decision, not his coaching tenure.
Guaranteed to follow Harbaugh are his son Jay and S&C Coach Ben Herbert. Charger fans are already singing the praises of Jesse Minter and how exciting it will be to have him there. Count him as gone.
That leaves Steve Clinkscale (Asst DC, DB's) , Ron Bellamy (WR's), Kirk Campbell (QB's), Mike Elston (DL's) and Mike Hart (RB's). How many of those are going to follow?

Hart has even less qualifications than Moore does. Appointing Hart at this time would be a mistake of the Rich Rod caliber.
If Manuel has done his homework, it'll be Sherrone Moore. If not, its going to be a jump ball with all sorts of yahoos' names being tossed around. I wonder what Mike DeBord is up to?"The stockings were hung by the chimney with care, .. I'd worn them for weeks, and they needed the air"

Harbaugh's statement:
“My love for Michigan, playing there and coming back to coach there, leaves a lasting impact. I'll always be a loyal Wolverine. I'm remarkably fortunate to have been afforded the privilege of coaching at places where life's journey has created strong personal connections for me. From working as an assistant coach at Western Kentucky alongside my father, Jack, and time as an assistant with the Raiders, to being a head coach at USD, Stanford, the 49ers and Michigan - each of those opportunities carried significance, each felt personal. When I played for the Chargers, the Spanos family could not have been more gracious or more welcoming. Being back here feels like home, and it's great to see that those things haven't changed. The only job you start at the top is digging a hole, so we know we've got to earn our way. Be better today than yesterday. Be better tomorrow than today. My priorities are faith, family and football, and we are going to attack each with an enthusiasm unknown to mankind. This organization is putting in the work — investing capital, building infrastructure and doing everything within its power to win. Great effort equals great results, and we're just getting started.""The stockings were hung by the chimney with care, .. I'd worn them for weeks, and they needed the air"

The most important hires, to my mind, will be S&C and the position coaches for both lines. The coordinator hires will be higher-profile, of course, but Michigan's strength and conditioning program and superior line play have been the engines driving the success of the last three seasons. If Moore can find the right coaches at those spots, he ought to be able to figure the rest out in due time.

BTW, I'm with Mike on being excited for the 2024 season. This was a good 3y run to the NC - maybe the best in my 50+ years following M. If not the best, close to it. But, I'm optimistic. There's a winning culture that's been established and the best way to preserve and solidify it is to elevate Moore to HC and keep as many assistants, analysts, and staff in place to solidify that culture.
That might help keep players at M and keep recruits in the fold.
Moving on.Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

Best of luck to Harbaugh. Thankful for the memories.
Outside of how Sherrone Moore transitions to a CEO role, Ben Herbert is the next biggest factor. We need Herbert to stay so badly. Best strength and conditioning coach in the business. The key to turning a college football program that ranks in the teens in composite talent into a champion. Also use the money saved by not paying Harbaugh on NIL and staffing support please.AAL 2023 - Alim McNeill
