Michigan is 0-4 ATS this season. Their style combined with the new clock rules minimizes possessions. We’re not getting into track meets. Michigan clamps down on their prey like an alligator and drags them into swamp. And drowns them. Whilst chewing on them.

Its like the entire script for CFB has flipped. Just a few years ago the trend was to run as many plays as possible. Now, most teams are shortening the game. That, along with the new clock rules means that nearly every play has to count for something."The stockings were hung by the chimney with care, .. I'd worn them for weeks, and they needed the air"

A analysis reported on X that confirms which teams play fast and whihc don't. Michigan, of course, is 131st:
Who plays fast and who plays slow in college football?
Here's an updated look at the plays per minute data through Week 3:
1. Tennessee - 3.06
2.TCU - 2.82
3. South Florida - 2.81
131. Michigan - 1.91
132. Rice - 1.77
133. Air Force - 1.77Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

There's a more extensive discussion of the impact on Michigan's offensive strategy and game planning of less football, more commercials at mgo within the UFR Defense. The way less talented/less beefy programs beat M is to work to shorten the game too, which is exactly what Schiano was doing last week. The shortened amount of actual football amplifies the impact of big plays. Minter was trying to prevent those with the soft coverage by CBs that everyone was complaining about. For the purpose of this discussion, you can ignore Rutger's disaster TD run on 3rd and 4 because Minter actually had the perfect defense called and had Sanistrill not slipped and continued to blanket the ultimate Rutgers receiver, A seconds delay for that throw by Winsett would have resulted in a pic by the underneath cover guy that Winsett didn't see
You can bet Neb, who doesn't play particularly fast anyway, will employ the same strategy v. M on Saturday. M will play soft, C3 coverage to prevent big plays, everyone will complain about letting Neb dink and dunk its way down the field. The down side of that approach is that if Minter happens to disguise that coverage then jump into press man, Heinrich Haarberg won't know it until he throws the ball and M gets an INT..... a big play whose results are amplified because both teams trying to play slow.Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

I don't see any way where that would be a step forward for Harbaugh.
Da Bairssss are a dumpster fire. Justin Fields was not developed to be a pro QB. He was developed to be a college QB.
Would Fields want to be coached by Harbaugh? I doubt it.
If Harbs really wants to return to the NFL, he can get into a much better situation than Chicago.Last edited by lineygoblue; October 2, 2023, 04:01 AM."The stockings were hung by the chimney with care, .. I'd worn them for weeks, and they needed the air"
