  • I just assume that everyone who can go, will go. Corum coming back outweighs any negative. That's massive.

    • OLine is so key for next season with the fluidity at the position group. If it’s another strong OLine for the 3rd straight season, M will contend for another B10 championship.
GIven how all this is playing out, I think it reasonable to believe Corum has talked to Zinter and Keegan both of whom have eligibility remaining and both have indicated they're staying. Just a guess. No one can predict the future.
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

      • Indeed, get the 3 remaining back - Harbaugh signed, then Davis will more than likely commit. This will be the best week at Michigan since hired Harbaugh.

        • Remember Wingy, this is Michigan .....it ain't over till it's over. Getting Corum for another year is huge. I'm waiting for the expected shoe to drop. You know, BPONE is still alive. It's baked in for long suffering M fans who have withstood too many dong punches.

          • lol Im being positive here Jeff. Plus Zak Zinter tweeted that pic and tweeted about Blake, I think he's working with Valiant for a NIL deal to come back.

            • The collective, properly managed (possibly regulated but watch out what you wish for here) can be an incentive to keep players in the program beyond 2y. Involved accountants have to carefully balance NFL signing bonuses based on draft stock estimates with NIL agreements.

I still think the degree thing for the kinds of kids that come to M is an enticing benefit. It's hard for young men to think long term though. Counseling for players focused on having a back up plan that includes a degree that you can get a good paying job with if your football career comes to a sudden end for some reason ought to be readily available and early in a student's educational pathway.

              • Even one of Keegan and Zinter would be great. Both would be awesome. If we lose one, El-Hadi has looked really good. Barnhardt and Jones will make a good pair of tackles. Running game should be excellent next year, barring a traditional "Michigan" happening.

                • Harbaugh going for the Portal thing is paying off. There's a ton of options for another standout OL performance in 2023. Besides hoping to keep Zinter and Keegan (fully schooled in Moore's run game), there is this: offensive linemen LaDarius Henderson, Myles Hinton, Drake Nugent and tight end AJ Barner are experienced new additions to M's roster. Solid depth there.

                  • This is a good rundown of a speculated 2023 Depth Chart with appropriate footnotes in case your curious. It's from a poster at mgoboard:

Don't care if you didn't want it. Don't care if you didn't need it. Don't care if you don't agree with it. BLAKE CORUM IS BACK...and I've never been so excited to add a name back.  Chart? No. DEPTH Chart.  QB: J.J. McCarthy 2. Davis Warren 3. Jack Tuttle 4. Alex Orji 5. Jayden Denegal / Brandon Mann 7. Kendrick Bell

                    • I seriously just tuned in on the game tonight, and of course, TCU is getting whalloped. It has turned out to be a total mismatch, and I think we all knew that was going to happen. And one final time, I will say we got this crappy matchup tonight, due to an officials decision to interject himself into a game, and his micro-management of his "job" ended up impacting the entire playoff process.

Michigan would have put up a tougher fight. Props to OSU for showing it was possible.

                      --

Moving on to the good stuff. You Michigan detractors may want to skip this because I'm going to gush about Blake Corum. Nothing for you to see here. With his return next year, I cannot remember a year where Michigan will be this loaded in the RB room. Corum and Edwards would be the 1RB at most other schools in the NCAA. And when Cole Cabana is added to that group, it almost HAS to be the top RB room in CFB next year. OSU's room will be similar, but man, I've never seen a RB room this loaded at M. Someone will have to refresh my memory for a year where it was better. And as I watched the Eisen video, I couldn't have been more proud of Blake Corum and how he handled this entire situation. He had many valid reasons to leave had he chosen to do so. He could have left due to coaching instability. He could have left for money. He could have left because he didn't want to risk an injury next season that would damage his draft status. Instead, he chose to stay because of academics, and he wanted to experience college football for one more year. Outstanding.

Michigan v OSU this past season was the most watched college football game of the regular season. It could set a record next season as well.

and one final shot across the bow ...

... Hey TCU... you still think you belong among the big boys of college football? ,,,,

                          • Correct. It was certainly the game with two comparably talented teams.

                            • I saw Cabana play in a rout of Midland in the state playoffs, he's very fast and good out in space. He had two long receiving touchdowns. He looked good but small, the only time Midland could contain him was on handoff from a traditional tailback position.

                              • Lacking talent at receiver unless Donovan Edwards is there more than 50% of his snaps (i'm all in favor of him being moved to WR, think his NFL future is at WR or a hybrid of the 2), going to be a season where you overly rely on the running game...

Pass rush will be an issue unless Derrick Moore is a dude (I like his talent level but not sure next season is his breakout season). Need him or McGregor to make big leaps or they'll have to get pressure from blitzing their LB's/S's... Last I heard (a month ago or more) Anoma was planning on returning, M needs him back...

M returns enough everywhere else to contend for the B1G and put up a fight vs the Buckeyes. Schedule is poop again, M should have at most 1-loss heading into The Game.
