  • Blake Corum talks about his injury, and his future.

Remember, I'm the one who said he was 50/50 on his NFL decision.

I hope that the Alro Steel guy or Stephen Ross or whoever are busy opening up their wallets for the guy.

Yeah, I agree. This is where NIL from alums can help influence what happens to the team next season and beyond.

Corum should have no qualms about returning next season if that's what he'd like to do. He's going to have an excellent line in front of him again, and he won't have to carry the entire load with the emergence of Donovan Edwards.

George Steinbrenner pulled a 2000's era NIL deal that ended up influencing osu football for the last 23 years. M alums need to step up and do the same.

          • This was my opening post for this thread I started in January, 2022:

Decent roster will return - I think McCarthy beats out McNamara but it won't be by a wide margin. Still, it's pretty clear the separation between elite teams and good ones is large. I saw something before the OB that showed a composite grade based on recruiting scores that were compiled for the current 2 deep rosters of the 4 CFP teams. UGA and Alabama were just miles ahead of the rest of the CFB teams along with wide margins between UGA and Alabama over M and Cinci. I don't see how the field is going to get leveled by some combo of realignment, rules for and the process of paying players and an expanded and reformatted CFB play-off. I'd certainly like to see a way to make the current top tier of CFB teams (however that might be objectively determined) be separated from the rest into two leagues where both have something to play for

McCarthy cleary beat McNamara for the starting QB job at M. Now McNamara is in an offense that fits his skill set at Iowa. McCarthy had a good but not great season. He'll return next season as an experienced QB operating behind a solid OL even if there are departures for the NFL among that group. Keep in mind, he was a first year starter at age 19 in 2022. He'll turn 20 this month.

I don't think Corum will return but the RB room with Edwards, and a good left hand, in it will be solid. Receivers? Good enough for Harball. Minter may be one and done. The roster could be OK with portal guys. TBD. Moody is gone. No clue for 2023.

I think M can threepeat as BT Champs but the talent gap between M and other elites is just too great for M to be a national contender .... and, oh, osu will still be standing between M's trip to INdy in 2023. The way M approaches post season football has become baked in and its not competitive so the notion that M can overcome it's talent deficiencies in play-offs it might fine itself in next season (the last of the 4 only entrants) with rah, rah and great coaching doesn't cut it. JH was focused on changing things up after the 2020 shit-storm and he did with good success. He needs to focus on improving his bowl record which is god-awful. It's pretty obvious why.
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

            • Ohio State has a lot coming back -- except at QB, but that's not a concern.

Cole Cabana is going to get snaps. Definitely.

                • From John Bacon, who I trust more than any other source on anything Harbaugh;

"From several very good sources: the possibility of Harbaugh leaving for the NFL is real. Could even happen fast. NOTHING FINAL, but IF he goes, it would not be because of money, NIL, control, or just about anything regarding UM, but his growing frustration with college football itself."

                  • I don’t blame anyone for not wanting to deal with that shit year in, year out.

                    • Yeah, I guess I can understand why a coach would want to leave. CFB is a mess right now with NIL and unlimited free agency via the portal, I guess I wouldn't blame him for leaving either.

I'd hate to see him go at this point. He's finally got the ship pointed in the right direction and in spite of everything else, the program is in decent shape. I'm concerned about who might replace him.

Or that he has taken Michigan as far as he can so he is moving on.

                          • The longer Jim Harbaugh’s camp goes without saying something, the more I believe he’s actually gone this time. Seems like Harbaugh was gone a year ago if the Vikings actually handed him the job. The Panthers, Broncos, and Colts seem desperate enough to give Harbaugh a job this year.

I’m sick of hearing this crap every year. Either leave or sign a lifetime contract (huge buyout) and firmly deny it. End this. Warde Manuel and the M administration are at fault too.

As for the replacement… has M fallen off to an Arkansas program level where an OLine coach is worthy of the job? Moore would be underwhelming. One more quality season in 2023 because the roster is loaded. Then who knows where M would go… Possibly Brady Hoke 2.0
I like the idea of Dave Aranda, Kalen DeBoer, PJ Fleck, or Kyle Whittingham.

                            • If Harbaugh leaves, the job has to go to an actual head coach. None of our assistants are ready. I'm not even remotely interested in Moore, Hart, or Minter. The most available guy who fits is probably Fleck.

                              • Fleck would be interesting. He's 4-0 in bowl games at Minnesota. All against major conf competition too (West Virginia, Georgia Tech, Syracuse, and Auburn).

He's only 42 but has already been a head coach for a decade.
