    • Not upset about this, never was a big fan of his. I think he was looking to leave after told him he wasn’t getting the HC job if Harbaugh leaves. The overreactions are hilarious. Gaddis was running Harbuaugh's (real) offense after 'speed in space' flopped . Not even sure who was calling all the plays, plus Gattis has barely been out on the recruiting trail the past two classes. Was offered more $$ to go to Miami and thought he deserved more after winning Broyles Award. Can't blame him for leaving. I think Michigan can get someone better, I think they know his limits.

As I indicated below, I believe Matt Weiss could be next OC, and I also believe there had been some interest in moving Ron Bellamy to receivers even before this, so.....

If Gattis moves on to Miami, I suspect Harbaugh would elevate Matt Weiss to OC

        • It didn't go well for Gattis that Warde was going find a replacement (not Gattis) if Harbaugh took the Viking job. Hence the nasty swipe he took on the way out. It is kind of funny, some of the same social media sites and fans that wanted Gattis gone are now some of the bigger whiners about our DC and OC both leaving. I got to think that Weiss was brought into Michigan to be the OC if/when Gattis left.

Gattis didn't really fit what Harbaugh wants and really didn't fit what Gattis wanted to do, but they made it work for this past year to a point. They was only opening it up when needed and not really using its athletes as well as they likely should be doing especially some of the younger guys such as Henning, Antony, Edwards, etc....

          • Gattis came in as a proponent of "speed in space". Didn't work. So Michigan reverted to the Harbaughesque running game and went 12-2. Let's see what "speed in space" does for Miami before we become overly concerned with losing Gattis. McDonald is a great loss.

            • Yea, I agree McDonald is a bigger loss than Gattis. McDonald is an up and coming talent that's going to have a great career in the NFL. I just wish we could have kept him for 2-3 more years to get some continuity into the defensive side of the ball. Alas, John Harbaugh had to fire Wink Martindale, so back McDonald goes. Maybe John can be helpful in pointing out a successor.

Ironic to me is that it seems like Gattis may have finally had his 'speed in space' guys on the roster.

Oh well, maybe Gattis prefers the night life in South Beach.

              • '22 will be the first year M will have talent at QB, WR, RB, and OL in forever. Incoming OC will have a full deck unlike whoever the DC is.

                • ...or maybe they just don't like working under the greatest CFB coach in the history of the world...a man known only as....HARBAUGH!!!!!!!!!!

                  • By any measure this is a strange poaching. 5 days ago they are talking about Gattis maybe being the new head coach, now he is going to Miami for a rebuild job. As WM points out they have the whole offense coming back. I would think that would shoot his star even higher. If that tweet is correct it sounds like may he approached the administration with what Miami was offering him and they told Gattis to pound sand.

Luckily for Michigan, they already have an OC on the staff and his name is HARBAUGH!!!!!!

                    • It’s also quite possible that he was told he wasn’t going to replace HARBAUGH!!! when he left. So Gattis knew where he stood with M admin.

                        • LOL. I agree that this is no great loss, although it's impossible to know how much credit got us should have been given for this year's offense. But, overall, how ridiculous. And pretty of whiny of Gattis on his way out, deserved or not.

                          • It’s really odd to lose both coordinators to coordinating positions. Meh. I shouldn’t underestimate HARBAUGH!!!!’s ability to make his job more difficult.

                              • TBH, nobody outside the program and only a few inside it know why Gattis left. MD is clearer. I do believe that M's track record of managing the program is, in the current circumstance, an indication that the people running the show can't get out of their own way. Loosing the OC and DC in the off season isn't a good look. I really am disinterested in knowing details ...... until it's about the replacements for these two.
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.
