  • I don't know that Webb had any solid reporting on the Minnesota side. I thought Harbaugh expecting to become the head coach news was premature because Vikings were having the 9 hour interview with Graham.

    • Webb was reporting from the Michigan side, on what Harbaugh's approach and mentality was on Monday. Seemed clear from twitter traffic yesteday that Webb was looking to Minnesota media for the Vikings side, and not sourced himself there. Balas on the other hand -- definitely looks like that was premature.

            • HARBAUGH!!!! made quite the impression...interviewing with the Vikes on National Signing Day...attaboy Jimmy...a big FU to your school and recruits...

The fact the Vikes rejected him is rather amusing though. Heh.

              • Think we’re on Harbaugh 4.0 or 5.0 by now. If he changes again…

                2015-2016. Harbaugh 1.0. Good Harbaugh.
                2017-2019. Harbaugh 2.0. Deflated Harbaugh.
2020. Harbaugh 3.0. WTF was the season Harbaugh.
2021. Harbaugh 4.0. Ted Lasso Harbaugh.
                2022 and so on. ???

                So unpredictable with Jim Harbaugh.
M should be good with a McCarthy + Edwards core on offense…

                • But it all pretty much comes out to 10-3 in the end.

                  • Most of Michigan's class was signed on the early signing day. I haven't read anything that showed signees from yesterday.

My biggest concern was the transfer portal. Had Harbaugh left, I expected several to jump in.

One quote from Harbaugh that I read said that he told Manuel that he was committing to Michigan for the long term. 2022 and beyond. But that won't stop the annual "Harbaugh to the NFL" chatter every offseason.

                      • HARBAUGH!!!! (did I get enough exclamation marks?) dug himself a nice hole for him to climb out of with the fan base ..... which he obviously doesn't give a shit about. He's also got a high bar to win back support and that includes winning the BIG which, of course, includes beating osu in c-bus and whoever shows up in Indy from the West. Possible but the coaches and players have to play above their talent levels to do that. If M goes 10-3, losing to MSU and osu, he'll gain no supporters and lose quite a few.

First order of business has to be finding a great DC. I'd say Jim has a good track record of finding good assistants. I have no doubt, John will be involved again. Jim seems to need him a lot these days. The players are there - some experience, good but not elite. MM appeared to be very good at teaching his concepts and getting players into the right places to win battles on D. Harbaugh needs someone in that mold that isn't going to change the D concepts MM installed.

If M somehow manages to get to the CFP in 2023, It won't matter how hard they try, they'll get eaten up again in the trenches. One leg up they'll have if that happens is they will have once experienced shock and awe from SEC foes in the 2022 CFP. Whoever survives that SEC mash-up in 2022 and shows up again in the CFP, for that contest, maybe M won't show-up with another deer in the headlights look.
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

Surprise! But, it looks more like it was inflation, amplification, and interpolation of sketchy information than it was "premature". A whole lot of self-proclaimed pundits were just looking for something- anything - to rile up the Michigan fanbase, as well as those that enjoy seeing them look like fools.

                          • Sam Webb is a Michigan cheerleader. It's pretty clear Harbaugh wanted to go back to the NFL, the pundits didn't force him on that plane.

For the record, I don't think you have to proclaim yourself as a pundit.

                            • Nowadays,. looking in the mirror and thinking that people will actually think your opinion is worth consideration is pretty sufficient for proclamations.

But yeah- it's Michigan! and Harbaugh!!!! is a nutjob! People just love seeing how much they can make out of ANYTHING that stirs those pots - especially in the dead of winter, and all other local sports suck..

                              • People made a couple weeks worth of stories about Mel Tucker to LSU based on a Bruce Feldman report. It's nothing special to Michigan, the football industrial complex reports anything and everything to get clicks. This will die down and the complex will move.onto the next hot story, like the new GB Special Teams Coordinator. In this case Harbaugh was actively trying to get the fuck out of Dodge City. Most coaches just leave, there is no foreplay. Nobody knew Lincoln Riley and Brian Kelly were interviewing, they just bolted. Harbaugh was interviewing for new jobs. I think the fact that he doesn't have an agent hurt him because a big time agent isn't letting him get on the plane without some heavy assurances.

There are a lot of things I like to make fun of Sam Webb for, but this isn't one of them. He is the definition of a Michigan Homer. He is not the one to stir the pot.
