I'm kinda with you guys in that I don't give a shit if Harbaugh leaves. Gattis is the #1 obvious choice as an interim successor or maybe a permanent one. If he faceplants in his first year, then there could still be some good candidates out there. It's incredible that nobody has snapped up Fickell yet.

Froot, we here you. That story - Harbaugh was unhappy with how he was treated after the 2020 season - has been in the background, as I said, since right after the Orange Bowl. This isn't something off the page insightful or startling. That Jack Harbaugh is saying it to a local sports reporter is affirmation of previous speculation that came from what I consider to be pretty good sources. So, to that extent its affirming what others have heard, its newsworthy.
Back to a point I made earlier ..... I'll have to say that I'm a sick of Harbaugh - perceiving himself of some value that exceeds what NFL/GMs and owners think it's worth. That's also possibly true with M's behind the scenes influencers (?regents, et. al.) who are tired of his and his act and think M can do better.
He played the I'm great you guys are idiots to not do as I tell you to do card in SF, pissed off ownership got the boot. The timing was right for him to slide out the door to what looked like a great spot and what M fans wanted ..... it looked like I flipped off SF and headed for the M HC job. Everyone knows he has a track record. The problem for Jim is that the dark side of that record is catching up with him.
I'm fine if he stays, fine if he goes. Either way management is going to continue to have to deal with his quirkiness. As long as he wins, and I think he can in the NFL or CFB, nobody will care.Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

I guess he was angrier about the pay cut than I thought previously. The sticking point with Michigan may be that he wants that money back, and wants more control, and finally, he wants contract language that will not allow M/Manuel to ever do that again.
I'm fine with him leaving, if that's what he chooses to do. It sucks that all this seems to be coming to a head on national signing day, but I guess that's how it goes. I'm also concerned that this may start a significant transfer portal surge away from M as well. I think McCarthy would be one of the first to leave.
That's what Michigan has become. One last hurrah in 2021, and now, back to suckdom.I don't always roll a joint, but when I do, its usually my ankle

Sorry, but Harbaugh's 2020 was the equivalent to showing up totally drunk at work one day. It's embarrassing, and may not get you fired, but not only do you never doing it again, you just OWN it.
If that's what's really bothering him, then well, just go.

What about falling ass backwards into Matt Campbell?
Not that it's worth thinking about. Feel very confident that the job does go to Gattis.

One pushback for Gattis is how he wasn't good enough to get the Duke football head coach job. Duke, what, the 60th best power 5 football program?
Makes sense for Gattis to get the Michigan job though.

"Having John O'Korn slinging the ball around the field like Brett Favre in the middle of a rain storm."
LOL. That comment made me laugh.

My opinion that Gattis gets the job is based solely on administrative laziness and lack of will.
Give him a 3 year deal with a U friendly buyout and keep as much of the staff and recruits in place as possible.
In a hypothetical: if keeping Gattis meant keeping JJ, it’s worth it in the short run. The schedule sets up for an easy 10 wins next year unless the program implodes.Last edited by Mike; February 1, 2022, 10:02 PM.
