Kelly has said recently that he has no desire to leave LSU, and that he eventually wants to retire from coaching while at LSU. So, I'm not sure he'd be interested in Michigan anyway. About the only thing that might draw him is that he is a native Michigander. He had a lot of success here at Grand Valley and CMU.
I don't want him because I think he'd be another Rich Rod, and end up gutting the program in favor of 'his' people.I don't always roll a joint, but when I do, its usually my ankle

Of course he said that. The last thing a somewhat disliked coach with a 19-7 record would say is, “I am looking to leave this shithole.”
He had a lot of success at CMU? I thought it was average (not gonna look it up, but I remember him good at Grand Valley and Cincinnati and average everywhere else)."The problem with quotes on the Internet is that it is sometimes hard to verify their authenticity." -Abraham Lincoln

I just peeked at his wiki page and he inherited a dumpster fire from Mike Debord at CMU. They hadn't won more than 3 games in a season in 5 years. He subsequently went 4-7, 6-5, and 9-4 winning the MAC in his 3rd season. 19-16 overall but turned around an awful program and parlayed that into the Cincinnati gig.

Michigan is well aware they have to stop Milroe from killing them with his feet, easier said than done. I guess practicing with Orji (who is actually bigger) is the closest they can do, I think Hauaserman will see a lot of snaps. Not sure who but definitely need to have a spy on him, making him pass is the only chance.

The fact that it was so neatly and quickly swept under the rug and just forgotten about still amazes me.
Imagine the ongoing outrage if Saban had forced a kid to climb a 40-foot scissor lift in gale-like winds so he could video practice. The ongoing outrage woulda gotten him fired and the child’s death would have followed him loudly and inexorably to all subsequent jobs, and rightfully so. But with Kelly and Notre Dame not so much. It died quickly (pun intended).Last edited by AlabamAlum; December 26, 2023, 04:14 PM."The problem with quotes on the Internet is that it is sometimes hard to verify their authenticity." -Abraham Lincoln

To be clear, I don't want Kelly at Michigan. I think he's way too tempermental, and as I mentioned earlier, I believe he'd end up gutting the entire program with 'his' people. If Harbaugh takes the NFL leap, I want to keep as many of that coaching core as we can. Ben Herbert is gone for sure, and Harbs would probably want both Moore and Minter to join him in the NFL. I'd want to see Michigan keep at least one of the two, along with Bellamy and Hart. It may take offering the HC job to Moore, in order to keep him.
Kelly can stay in Baton Rouge.I don't always roll a joint, but when I do, its usually my ankle

Barnhart to the NFL draft, Hinton to return in '24. From mgoboard:
We will see what Nugent and Jones decide, but with Hinton coming back, going into the spring we are looking at:
LT: Hinton
LG: El-Hadi
C: Nugent (or Crippen, if Nugent leaves)
RG: Gentry vs. Priebe
RT: Jones (or Gentry or Persi, if Jones leaves)
That's a very solid group going into the spring, and we build from there. Plenty of young guys to battle and push these guys. Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

You may or may not be able to access this opinion piece from the NYT but it gave me pause to reflect on my more than 1/2 century association with Michigan football that began in 1966 - 58 years ago. This reflection involves my disappointment in what CFB has become - a sport taken over by it's ability to generate money. I'm not enthusiastic about the coming realignment or a 12 team play-off. I think the NCAA has massively failed in providing a modern framework for college football to operate within. NIL is helping the players but hurting the game. The portal, unregulated, is having the same kind of negative effect.
The most aggravating part of CFB at this point is that the game experience has changed radically whether you're in the Big House live or watching on TV ...... and it's not for the better. So, this article reminded me of why I'm an M football fan and will probably continue to long for the start of my 59th season, show up for the same number of games as in the past and dutifully watch those I can't attend while cancelling every other activity that might get in the way of that. I'm a member of the Best Cult Ever: Michigan Football.

Still basking, ranks right up with the Red Wings '97 Stanley Cup as the best sports day I have ever had, and will never be forgotten.
Though, I really wanted this one for Harbaugh! (as Scotty Bowman had won many Cups before ), this possibly could be better.
Signing off, take care!!!!!!!
