What a long offseason !!, I blame most of it on the Red Wings 'Not' making the playoffs again ... forever it seems -, but I digress. 44 days till kickoff, I drove by Michigan Stadium today, the North scoreboard looks almost done from the outside as the $41 million renovation is going on. New Lights, Sound System, and Scoreboards. Plus, l it's now official... Gov. Gretchen Whitmer signed legislation Tuesday allowing liquor licenses to be issued to sporting venues at public universities, including Michigan State and the University of Michigan.
Whitmer - “Authorizing the legal sale of alcohol at sporting events will bring us on equal footing with other universities, help reduce the likelihood of binge drinking before games, and bring in a heck of a lot more revenue that we can use to improve the student experience,” Whitmer said in a statement.
I don't have an issue with beer sales at college events but that logic is kinda funny. Sort of like "we need to spend trillions of dollars to reduce inflation".
EDIT: Then again, maybe she has prior experience waiting in line at a Michigan football concession stand. Even DSL would be sober by the time he got to the front of the line.
UM and MSU both haven’t announced anything specific about selling alcohol yet.
Oh yeah, I forgot. It means they can sell any alcoholic beverage. I can see Jeff right now sipping hot toddys, .. when its 65 degrees outside ... wearing his long johns.
So, not just beer. I'm sure that meets the approval of Michigan's Attorney General as well. Hopefully, she'll puke on a Spartan fan when she gets drunk again.
I don't always roll a joint, but when I do, its usually my ankle

I have to wear thermals year round at work because the freezer I have to go in is - 40 degrees with 5 fans going full blast. It's like being at the north pole. Get in, get done, GET OUT!

Freep: Booze sales will lead to drunken brawls at Michigan Stadium
Bullshit scare tactics. Alcohol will be priced so high that only fools will buy it. That's not to be naive and say that there won't be incidents. People will still get blitzed at tailgates, but the net effect will be minimal.
Yeah. It’s not like drunks aren’t at the game anyway. Every frat boy and about half the fans at Bama brings in two boot flasks. The premium seats and boxes have had booze for 20 years. I’m not worried about vendor sales of booze. Not just because of price, but the wait in line.

A friend of mine had a flask that looked like a radio that he took to the games. One time he called out if anyone knew the Tigers score and some smart alec gal told him to put the game on his "radio".
