    • I don't know how good Wink is, but it's clear he's coaching without, ummm, the same support previous DCs had.
Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?
      Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.

        • Coaching staff is much weaker compared to the last 4-years, amazed how bad the defensive backs have been not named Will Johnson. You give opposing QB's any time at all, and the result is an easy 1st down. Derrick Moore might be able to help when he comes back vs the Illini.

          • What appears to be a mediocre or just plain bad staff is not making the best of a bad situation. I think that we can acknowledge both the mess that Harbaugh left behind and the role that Sherrone Moore’s high level decisions have played in our current woes. I liked Sherrone a lot as an OC and I liked how his audition went. But his first six games as The Official Guy are not impressive.

            • It’s Hoke 2.0. His hiring was completely justified and made sense due to the timing but he won’t be the coach the next time Michigan is competing for the playoff and more. And not to put it squarely on him, the staff sucks, especially Campbell. I mean, that dude was fired by Old Dominion in 2022. WTF?

                • You may or may not be watching Iowa dismantle Washington. It's 37-10 now with Iowa totally dominating the LOS, running over the Huskies, scoring at will. The joke early in the season was, "Michigan is Iowa." That's an insult to the Hawkeyes.
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

                    I'm happy for Cade McNamara.

                    • Haven't seen it mentioned here yet ....... MSU @ M on Saturday, 10/26 is a night game. KO is at 7:30p ET on BTN. Following up on my aversion to watching bad football, I'll be on a cruise.

                      • So now, the season boils down to the next game with MSU.

Win, and your bowl hopes are still alive.

Lose, and they are not going to a bowl game.

                        Remaining games are

MSU - Same record, one of two remaining chances for a 2024 season win. Win, and keep your bowl hopes alive. Lose, and its over. No bowl.
Oregon --- lol .. getting plowed. Can probably name their score.
@ Indiana - Indiana finally breaks thru against M. See the IU v Nebraska score.
Northwestern - last chance for a win
@ osu -- We're back to letting them name their score. Whatever CRD thinks he needs to pay back Michigan for 'third base'.

                        ----

And as much as I'd like them to get a bowl berth, it may not be the best thing for them. A bowl game might only serve as more embarrassment.

                        ---

This program will not be NC competitive again until Warde Manuel is gone. Harbaugh was not his guy, and he messed around until he finally lost him. If Harbaugh had not left, this team would at least be executing the fundamentals. And I still think Harbaugh could have gotten a stop-gap QB better than anyone on the roster right now.

                        ---

I may watch next week's game, but it will likely be the last one I watch this season. There's nothing to see anymore.

                        • The portal closed while Michigan was prepping for the National Championship game. Not really a good time to do some crootin’. Not to mention JJ hadn’t yet declared for the draft because: see above.

The current QB situation is 100% on Harbaugh and the previous staff. But it’s OK because we won the National Championship.

                          • Multiple factors conspired to make it highly unlikely that Harbaugh would stay in Ann Arbor. I'd give Pettiti's non-stop retributive pursuit of "getting" Harbaugh, with the NCAA playing a role, as one of the big reasons JH left. CFB just wasn't for Jim anymore - see UVA's HC, Tony Bennett's surprise retirement. I do think if Jim and the staff he poached were still in Ann Arbor, we'd see an entirely different football team. Hopium homers crying over spilled milk are wasting their time thinking there was a chance for that. I'm 100% certain that was not going to happen.

Sheronne Moore was little more than a convenient replacement where Manuel didn't have to do the hard work of conducting a legitimate coaching search and interviewing prospective candidates. Besides rampant nepotism being a feature of M football for decades, a smart AD would not have given a shit what Harbaugh wanted.

IMO, the 2 biggest factors in the collapse of the football program was Harbaugh grabbing key coaches to take with him to the Chargers and recruiting failures - without considering the impact of NIL, these being hard to explain given Harbaugh's 3 years of championship football. And, yes, the program's handling the CFB NIL and portal environment, with M sticking their noses up at that and finally being late to the party, did play a role in terrible roster management. That is what it is. Nothing can be done about that fuck-up.

But, this team's stunning ineptitude is 100% on the current coaching staff and if the phrase, "the buck stops here," applies, Moore is responsible for it. It really is a shame how things have spiraled out of control - the dive the program is experiencing isn't going to turn around quickly with 2025's CFB prospects being dim.

Priority one for Moore is to shake up his coaching staff - I'd fire Campbell and Bellamy today, elevate Alford or Casula to interim OC and put out feelers for offense minded and experienced assistants. There's a lot of young talent out there that would leap at a chance to coach at Michigan. Priority two is to hit the portal starting now. There may be players that M could use already in the portal and the pickings will expand at the end of the season. Moore has to be ready to incentivise players he's identified as needed through M's NIL program (born in February of this year) run by Learfield and Altius Sports Partners.

In any event, given that shitshow yesterday in Champaign, there's going to be discontent that I don't think Moore is up to controlling it's impact on the team. I believe there is a distinct possibility the team will go 5-7 and miss a bowl game - the first time for that since 2014, Hoke's last year. Guaranteed losses to Oregon and at Ohio State, likely losses to MSU and at Indiana. NWU at home is no longer a gimmie either. This season, Michigan is a very bad football team.

                              • You're welcome - my next cruise starts on Friday. Once again, I'll not miss watching crap football, M's trademark in 2024, hosting Sparty. And don't think for a minute those coaches and players aren't going to lay it on a wounded Wolverine squad.
