More unwarranted hype: .. Rick Pizzo of the Big Ten Network said the Michigan practice he attended was the most intense he has seen in many years, from any team in the conference.

To me, the interpretation is: .. to quote App State: .. "Hold my beer"

If they're not careful, they're going to buy their own hype, and get knocked off by some tomato can that doesn't deserve to be on the same field with them.

That App State loss is still a sore subject for me. I'm probably the only CFB fan in the country that gives App State credit for being a defending National Champion, and then going on after their Michigan win, and winning yet another one. I still maintain that they weren't your standard tomato can. Michigan should have beaten them, yes. Absolutely. But its hard to play a good team (App State was good) when half of your starters are hung over because they partied the night before. Lloyd Carr gave the team a little bit too much liberty the night before that game, because they had prepared so well. A bunch of them went out and got schnockered, and came to the game with hangovers. The results are obvious.

So, I said all that to say this: They better prepare for EVERY game this year, as though they are preparing for MSU, PSU and OSU. They have a monsterous target on their backs, and if they don't take every game seriously, they're going to make some undeserving team's whole season by handing them a win.

Right now, I'm thinking the team is of the mindset that they can hardly wait to get on the field and hit another team. I think ECU is in big trouble, and M is going to hammer them by about 30 points. They seem to be putting the hype behind them. We'll see.

The last year of CFB as we know it and can't remember a Michigan team with so much (well-deserved) hype. I think they will fall short with one or two hiccups and could have a record like the last #2 team in 1991 (at the start of the year). That team finished 10-2, I remember that FSU game at home, and of course another Rose Bowl flop.

So, I said all that to say this: They better prepare for EVERY game this year, as though they are preparing for MSU, PSU and OSU.

This picture needs to be taped on every locker in the locker room the week of the MSU game.

Bad thing about that is, MSU is doing the same thing. They don't sound to me like they're sorry at all about what happened, and want this year to be Round Two.
