1. College football was, what it was, in the 1800's and 1900's. Everyone was the same.
2. College football in 2023 is, what it is. All teams schedule cupcakes, all teams have tough games.
Michigan, Ohio State, Nebraska, Alabama, and every other major college football program has its roots in a time when they played teams like Adrian, Oberlin, Merchant Marine Academy, etc.
Those games were important to those people, in those times. Those are our grandparents, and great grandparents days.
They were no less important than what we have in 2023.
There was a time when Minnesota was Michigan's most hated rival. Not Ohio State. That's where the Little Brown Jug came from. In fact, that series got so heated at one time, that both schools agreed to stop playing each other for a while, because there were too many fights after the games. Nobody cared about Michigan v Ohio State. Michigan STATE didn't even exist. The "big" game was Minnesota.
It was, what it was, and it was important to them. And its not fair to consider those games in those times to be meaningless. They were meaningful, and they counted.

Yes from 1879...the first undefeated prequel HARBAUGH!!!!!!! the mighty wolvereenies topped always tough Racine...then fought off a late surge to tie Toronto to finish 1-0-1...probably solidifying the first of their 84 mythical national titles ..which of course the last mythical title being 1997.
HARBAUGH!!!!!!!Shut the fuck up Donny!

Then in 1880...the year Wyatt Earp began terrorizing the Cowboys in Cochise County...the mighty wolvereenies swept to yet another undefeated season by avenging that nasty tie to Toronto...and finishing 1-0-0...the Maple Leafs fought hard but just couldn't overtake the winged helmets!Shut the fuck up Donny!

There was no season in 1882...either due to the economic hardships of the times...or the embarrassment of 1881...but no worries...they went 2-3 in 1883...beating Detroit Independents and Steven's whilst falling to Harvard, Yale and Weslyan...better times were ahead though!Shut the fuck up Donny!

I'm really glad, Wiz, you did your research on M's illustrious football history that goes back to way before Nebraska showed up on the grid Iron. In fact, The Nebraska Cornhusker's first game was a 10–0 Thanksgiving Day victory over the Omaha YMCA on November 27, 1890.
The Wolverines have always been properly named Wolverines after one of the fiercest red meat eating mammals on the planet. The original name for Nebraska's football team after a 2 year period of being called The Golden Knights, was......drum roll...... the Bugeaters. Nebraska stole the name Cornhuskers from Iowa after an upset win in 1893 and a headline in the school paper "we have met the Cornhuskers and they are ours." It was a derogatory description of Iowa's football team later plagiarized and assigned to Nebraska as a replacement for the ludicrous sounding bugeaters by a local Lincoln sports writer.Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

Any CFB before 1900 is utterly useless...and really until the 60's doesn't mean a hell of a lot. Fact is almost all of Ms glory is from the 40's and prior...save a split title in 97 thanks to you not having to face any real competition in a bowl.
Keep lauding that all time wins blah blah over Penis State Sanctuary or whatever the fuck that was though...classic.Shut the fuck up Donny!
