The talent and experience is there for the offense to be good. The problem is we've not seen how the lash-up of offensive coaches, two of them named Co-OCs, one of them named "Running Game Coordinator, will work out. Seems to me that given Harbaugh's history of jumping in to impose his style based on how the game is going, that's a too many cooks in the kitchen type of disaster looming.
The defense is neither talented nor experienced, has a new DC and, again, a Co-DC who is also the DB coach. I see a real disaster looming here.
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.
Defense missing a ton of experience from last season but they've M caliber talent, I don't expect the defense to be good but good enough. Defensive backfield needs some freshman, redshirt- freshman to be ready by B1G season; Will Johnson, Rod Moore... Defensive tackle is paper thin, can't afford an injury there...
Offense might need to bail out the defense in some close games vs say Sparty/Nebraska/Iowa type opponents, which I hope/expect they'll be able to do.
We'll see. M lost a lot up front. Hutchinson is hard to replace. I can't say I think whoever is replacing a decent set of LBs and Ss from last year is going to do well. If you don't get pressure up front, your DB's will get worked. If you play man (or versions of it) to make it hard for the opposing QB to hit short passes and work his team's way to first downs, your defense will be on the field too long and tire.

Rumor floating around A2 that the game with Sparty is going to be shifted to a 7:30 or 8:00 kickoff. That's fine for M fans, but not for sparty. They can't hold their liquor, and giving them a 8 hour running start on their drunkeness is not a good idea.
Not sure if this has been discussed here yet or not, but the new radio broadcast team for Michigan beginning this season is Doug Karsh and Jon Jansen. They replace Brandstatter and Dan Dierdorf who have both retired.
Brandy was never a good play by play guy. He's an analyst, and actually did that fairly well in that role with the late Frank Beckmann. Dierdorf is a man after my own heart. Wore his feelings on his shirtsleeve, and you could hear his heart break with each Michigan loss. I'll miss him.
Karsch and Jansen should be pretty good. Karsch is a true play by play guy, and Jansen's color work should fit well with Karsch.
All Karsh has to do to be better than Brandy is to identify the players names correctly from the numbers their wearing on the field and during a play and actually describe what's happening on the field, e.g., for offensive plays, ball on the xx yard line, down and distance to go, pass or run, completion and for how many yards gained, successful or unsuccessful run play and how many yards gained or lost. Brandy was not good at this basic stuff.
Jansen is a very good analyst going in. He's sharp, Dierdorf had trouble keeping up which is what happens in your 70s. The games move fast. You have to keep up. That's not easy even for brains that can still process a lot of information quickly. Impossible as that capacity waines

I've heard Karsch before when he was with Fox Sports Detroit (Now Bally Sports) and he's good. At least as good as Beckmann. He started off broadcasting HS State Finals, and now here he is headed for the Michigan booth. The broadcast will flow better with him, without a doubt. Nobody can replace Ufer. Nobody should even try. Loved by M fans, hated by all others.
George Blaha is not bad for Sparty. Too bad he has to be their guy and too bad WJR is still a sparty station. That should have been corrected long ago.
