Miami Dolphins fire HC Brian Flores today. I'd expect owner Stephen Ross to at least contact Harbaugh/his agents to measure interest. Stay tuned.Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. I don't think he'll leave either, but if I'm wrong, I have no problem if he does.
Its just like recruiting a student athlete. If their heart isn't here, then they need to follow their heart and go elsewhere. The last thing Michigan needs is halfhearted players and coaches.
If Harbaugh feels his future is better served in the NFL, rather than at Michigan, then so long. To to where-ever you believe you can do your best.
Brady Hoke would probably walk to Michigan for a 2nd chance."in order to lead America you must love America"

I think he's staying, Dolphins have already said they are not interested in Harbaugh. (learned their lesson with Nick Saban?) , so if he does leave he will be in Miami. Hoke is not an option, time fly's eight years ago I told you he was going to be the HC and you laughed lol

Just to review: By the middle of last week, reasonable people believed Harbaugh was in a good position to get what he wants and it isn't money. If he stays at M he wants to be able to attract talented HS players and transfers on a par with the heavy weights that are already all about optimizing NIL and the portal for that purpose. He knows M won't be competitive unless M plays in that world. Hack argued in his posts last week that among the influencers and deciders regarding what kind of student-athlete is going to get admitted to the U, what role academics plays in that person's campus life and what impact the current trends in CFB will have in defining the University are decidedly anti monetize everything to include "paying" the players and deemphasizing academics.
I think it was during the weekend, Nick Baumgardner of the Athletic, not just another sports journalist, posted a tweet that basically said the Athletic Department is going to be able to take advantage of NIL money on a par with the rest, with or without Jim Harbaugh. even though they are already behind in that kind of world. He has in the past been a source through which the M Athletic Department "leaks" information they want to get out in front of. This tweet said absolutely nothing about a new contract for JH - that is just anticipated by anyone with a brain that follows M football. What it did say to me and others whose opinions I respect is that the fan base should relax about M football optimizing NIL and we're working on it.
Back to Harbaugh leaving for an NFL job ..... speculation is rampant. I've avoided discussions at mogoboard on that subject because most of it, as usual, is just stupid. Yes, he loves Ann Arbor, he loves Michigan and coaching the football team. He has a special needs kid who is thriving in the programs available in A2 for those kids. His wife hates moving around and she made that clear when Jim was offered the M HC job when he was HC in SF. He's happy here, happy wife, happy life.
But I can say unequivocally, while he likes all that stuff, he doesn't like dealing with M "management," how they've treated him and the decisions they will probably make about advancing M football onto the current CFB playing field with all the unknowns. Jim probably feels, and I have no reason to doubt this, he is more than capable of dealing with those unknowns it weren't for a reluctant administration..... and TBC, this isn't the first tiff JH has run into with "management." He is strong willed to a fault and it's not arrogance. He's very good at what he does. He's quirky and probably lacks boardroom skills. That pushes influencers and deciders away; these people have egos and don't like to get pushed around. That doesn't make for a convivial environment when it comes to finding common ground on the things that matter to him whihc is winning. JMO, YMMV.Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. The strongest rumors are HARBAUGH!!!! to the Raiders -- if you actually buy the NFL shit. So, they can't hire him until they lose. If HARBAUGH!!!! doesn't re-up with M this week then I'd say he's probably gone. I'd be really, really, really suprised if he bolted.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?
Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.
