  • No longer my problem! Regretfully it now is Aidan Hutchinson's problem though.

    • I'm not sure how long a rookie contract is required to run, but he needs to plan on bailing out at the end of it. He said yesterday that he wants 'lots of playoff games, and Super Bowl appearances".

Boy, is he barking up the wrong tree. I admire the kid for his convictions, but the Lions organization does not share them.

                • Huge Michigan fan here in Maine who at 53 y.o.'s will be finally traveling in September to see a game in person. Planning on going to the 9/17 game vs. UConn. Haven't bought tickets yet so hoping to get some advice on where some of the better sections are vs. sections to avoid. Also recommendations on best rows would be also appreciated. Can't wait for this trip so any advice would be appreciated. Go Blue!

My opinion is that some of the best seating in the Big House is on the west side, about half way up. You can see the entire field, and as the day goes on, the sun goes down behind your back, rather than straight in your face, like on the East side. I had season tickets back in the late 90's and early 2000's in Section 18, Row 76, and I loved them.

Don't sit in the student section, unless you want a contact buzz and wish to witness all types of debauchery.

I'm sure others here will have different opinions.

                    • You've come to the right place, Wolverinesfaninmaine.

Being a noon kickoff early in the season, looking into the sun shouldn't be too much of an issue. Possibly by the 4th quarter the sun might be getting lower in the sky which would affect the NE corner of the stadium the most (in terms of looking into the sun). That would comprise sections 35-43 give or take...

The student section is the NW corner of the stadium beginning in section 25 and wrapping around to section 33. I believe there are general public tickets available at the top of sections 31-34 but I would avoid those for a coupld reasons. First, they are waaaay up there and second, you'll be using the same stadium entrances/facilities, etc. as 20,000 students.

Your question about rows is a good one. The incline at Michigan Stadium starts out very gradual from the field moving up and out but gets a little steeper the higher you go. Optimum sight lines probably begin around row 50 which is halfway up. Something else to consider is proximity to the tunnel where you enter your section. Most of them enter the stadium around rows 70-75 but the east side of the stadium has an upper and lower concourse that enter the stadium on rows 74 and 56, respectively. The closer you can get to the tunnels, the better. Seats in row 10 might sound appealing but realize if you need to use the bathroom or get a drink, you'll probably need to climb 60+ rows to get out to the concourse. At halftime that means you'll be back to your seat sometime in the middle of the 3rd quarter.

So in summary (and in my opinion only), I would scratch the north endzone all together. Concentrate on sections 24-44 around rows 50-70.

I'm sure other here have great tips and advice, too.

                      • It probably won't be a problem in the Yukon game, but the "visiting" fans are usually seated in the top rows of sections 6-12. Yukon probably won't bring too many fans with them, so those will likely be put on the market within about 2 weeks of the game. Make sure you go onto the MGoblue website and read what you are allowed to bring into the game. The list is very small. At one time they even disallowed clear water bottles because people were smuggling in vodka in them. They are very strict at the gates regarding what you can bring in. You don't want to walk all the way there, only to find out you take something valuable back to your car.

Plan on walking a long way to the stadium, unless you want to pay upwards of $70.00 to park near the stadium. Even the mile walk from Scio Church will cost you about $30.

And you will be packed in like sardines. Very little movement. Be sure to get to know your neighbors so you'll like them. If you sit next to a female, you'll be so close to her that in some states you'd be required to marry her afterward.

                        • Thanks for all the advice so far. Any recommendations on whether I should be looking to buy tickets now (i.e. StubHub) or if I should wait till once the individual tixs go on sale (I think my wife told me that's later this month/or next month)?

                          Comment

                          • The tix will be cheaper in a month, maybe two. There are many that sell off the nonconference games to offset the season ticket cost. I had season tickets for over 30 years and the people that sat to my right (for 15) only kept the season's 2 big games and sold the rest, every year. Sections 20-26 and 42-4 at rows 45-85 you can't go wrong. I don't think you'll see a sardine game for UConn.

Welcome to the Forum. Lots of good folks here and some secret UM wannabes from Nebraska, MSU and osu. And remember, osu is never capitalized as it is an improper noun in the most vile sense of the word.

                              • Here's what stubhub has at the moment. Sideline seats are really adding up but corners are pretty cheap.
