      • Jeff Buchanan, that Eleven Warriors article is painful for me, but I think it's accurate.

The other thing to me is it is a harsh criticism of Ryan Day. Wonder boy isn't so wonderful. Certainly Coombs wasn't getting it done on D but who hired him in the first place? Fine, CRD makes a move and fires Coombs mid-season. That hasn't worked out at all. OSU's defense is the worst I've seen it.

Maybe the M loss was a one-off and OSU just ran into a buzz saw that was perfectly prepared on both sides of the ball and had a really bad day. But Brian's point at mgo was that he was stunned at how many times defenders didn't look like they knew what they were doing and that the play calling on D made no sense at all. That's 100% on the coaching staff.

Hope it's a trend that indicates Ryan Day is a fraud.

          • Ohio State is pretty much doomed.

            Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.

            • They're not doomed unless they are horribly mismanaged. They still have more talent on roster, and committed/incoming than any other team in the conference, or in the midwest region. The talent is, and will be there to work with. Now, it will be up to CRD what he does with it. Michigan still is not close to matching talent with OSU, neither on the roster, nor committed/incoming.

Maybe this is where Harbaugh's post game comment comes in. Is CRD really a team builder, or did he come off the bench as a pinch runner?

Okay, you completely lost me on that one. No fraud of a coach wins their first 25 conference games in a row.

                • I heard Ryan Day eats pizza with a knife and fork, crust first.
I don't watch Fox News for the same reason I don't eat out of a toilet.

Jeff has a propensity to read A LOT into low sample size occurrences. Especially if it's a negative conclusion re Ohio State or a positive conclusion re M. The best approach is to note it and file it away. The best one remans an early November 2018 statement that Peyton Ramsey was better than Dwayne Haskins (based, I think, solely on IU's game at M). Low sample size occurence. Negative for OSU. Somewhat positive for M in that it excused a bad performance. Sort of trademark stuff.

Unfortunately, this analysis of CRD as a potential fraud won't be disproved so immediately. He's lost once to M and to the entire B10 in 3 seasons. He was the entire reason Justin Fields came to Ohio State. He lost to Clemson in a game that if I was a M fan I'd perpetually bitch about getting jobbed by the officials (you know, when replay overturns a clear defensive TD) and lost to a generationally good UAT team. And then this year -- where if anyone read anything I said they'd know that it was year where 2018 and 2019 recruiting would hurt and make it a transition year.

Now, his defensive staff is not good and he absolutely has to fix that. And, TBH, I think he will. UFM had an atrocious defense in 2013 (in part due to roster issues) and he replaced Withers w/ Ash. Further, CRD has already hired a really good DC once in Hafley -- who managed to parlay his one season in Columbus into a BC HC job and 5-year extension. He also demoted his DC after Game 2 midseason. So, it's clear he's not afraid to make the move and it's clear he can hire a really good DC. And, IMO, it's clear that's his priority. I don't think he's going to be forced to do anything of this like, say, another HC was.

                    • Fair enough on the small sample size criticism. Also fair on conclusions based on one shitty game v. M while winning every other BT game he's played as OSU's HC. However, you may or may not be familiar with this truism: One aw-shit is worth a thousand atta-boys.

But what happened in Ann Arbor on Saturday was monumental in that post game video analysis unequivocally demonstrated what a shit show OSU's defense was in that game. How does that happen to OSU n the most important, season defining game of the 2021 campaign?

I don't think either you or Paul would dismiss the relevance and importance of that game defining the coaches and players for the next 365 days and until Day can right the ship and try to do the same thing in 2022 that Harbaugh just did to him in 2021.

The stage is definitely set for another war given Harbaugh's shade he threw in Day's direction. I think it's great. I suspect you both do too ...... small sample size not withstanding.

I doubt OSU fans here will make it through the first couple of paragraphs of this diary post at mgo. It's a descriptive highlight of evidence that OSU players, one in particular, were surrender monkeys on Saturday ....... a day that will go down as spectacular in the legendary history of Michigan football.

On the 3rd play from scrimmage Saturday, facing 3rd and 2, Hassan Haskins avoids an arm tackle in the backfield and accelerates quickly through the left side B gap well past the first down marker.  As he clears the second level, Haskins is one-on-one with safety Bryson Shaw from Ohio State.  Haskins could spin, juke, or even hurdle #17 in white and might have a shot at scoring.  But none of those choices appear to enter 25's mind: he barrels straight ahead, lowers his helmet and sticks it into the chest of Shaw.

                        • Now THAT's a fucking blog entry!! I'm still so fired up I can't concentrate on anything else. If there hadn't been young children roaming around on Saturday my language would have stripped the paint off the walls when Brown ripped Wilson's helmet off. My first grader asked me why the "Butt Guys" were so mad and trying to fight us. I said because they are bullies and bullies hate it when people fight back. OSU lost their composure in more ways than one. I've never seen them look lost and panicked before. They were hopeless on both sides of the LOS. And they knew it.

Goddamn that was cathartic. It's why I'll never understand, or like, people who don't like sports.

                          • My personal undervalued highlight was seeing at least 5 frantic buckeyes desperately chasing after Corum. Yeah, they eventually caught up to him, but there's about 3 seconds of unbridled chaos and confusion there.

                            • 25 seconds on the playclock, Cade Mcnamara borrows from Zach Novak's "Aneurysm of Leadership" and yells, with both fists clenched and his whole body shaking, for his tight ends to get lined up. They dutifully bow their helmets and hustle into position.
Yelling is an understatement, you can here him through the tv, man he was going crazy - I really thought holy shit look at that intensity Cade wants this badly, no ̶ ̶ ̶B̶r̶a̶n̶d̶o̶n̶ ̶P̶e̶t̶e̶r̶s̶ ̶ (no offense to Peters).

                              • Couple other notes;

The last 20 teams to win the Game have outrushed the other.

Michigan's last incomplete pass of the game came with 6:13 left in the 1st half!

According to Pro Football Focus, Hassan Haskins rushed for 16 1st Downs against Ohio State, the most by any Power 5 RB this year

Aiden Hutchinson had 15 QB pressures against OSU. The most in any game they have seen since they started tracking games in 2014.

Josh Ross smashing Henderson for a loss on 3rd and 2 on OSU's 1st drive of the 2nd half with the score 14-13. That was a huge stop.
