It's almost gameday, and M fans are so confident in the outcome they're rating wings. HARBAUGH!!!!! and #SpeedInSpace!!!!! and MACDONALD!!!!! have turned the corner. The Death Machine is nearing optimal operation. Tucker should be fleeing to Baton Rouge now, but I suspect he has enough pride to stand there and take is asswhipping like a man.

OSU is by far the top team in the conference. Its not even close. NO-BOD-Y has an offense to compare with OSU.

We'll find out in the next 2-3 weeks what pecking order PSU, U-M and MSU are. We already know what will happen on T-giving weekend.

Since Iv'e gone out on the limb and declared "MSU won't run against M," Let's take a look at KWIII. That's Kenneth Walker the third, Heiman Trophy candidate. According to observers I'm reading this week he's very good at two things: He's gonna get a big chunk play if he get's to the 2nd level. He gets yards after contact (mostly because he's shifty and hard to tackle).

Here's the problem for him. Sure, he's good but MSU's OL is just guys. They can be moved and have been by Big Ten opponents. Walker looked great against non-con foes, not so much against the conference. His rep is outsized because of the gaudy non-con runs on video that sports writers get all wet about.

The key for M's D is making solid contact at the LOS or in the backfield - and that means fundamental tackling. If Walker glances off a defender making first contact, he's going to get 4 yards or more every time. That, or he's going to break into the 2nd level for 10+ yards. M's D has been hot and cold on tackling. Mostly hot. It has to be hot to beat MSU.

MSU's run game is critical for Thorne. If it's contained, it throws Thorne off - that's according to Alex Drain who's writing the FFFF articles at mgo. Drain has good video and analysis to prove that point. He concludes, becasue of the interplay between MSU's run game and Thorne's passing game. M wins this if it controls the LOS on defense.

It's rivalry week here at FFFF! Michigan and Michigan State will clash in what is the rivalry's biggest game in decades on Saturday, two 7-0 teams facing off. Michigan State has attracted lots of attention this season with an offense powered by several elite playmakers and a surprisingly good quarterback, leading them to their perfect start. Is the Spartan offense an invincible whizbang unit of home run hitters? Or can Michigan keep them locked in a cell? Let's take a look: The Film: For the second straight week, we're using Nebraska's defense for an opponent's offense due to the scheme similarity between Michigan and Nebraska, as well as the fact that that Nebraska is one of two defenses Michigan State has faced that are comparable in quality to Michigan's. The other is Indiana, who don't run a 3-4 like Nebraska does. So, we're rolling with the Huskers, but we will be sure to reference some of the other games MSU has played too, in order to take a full scope of their season. As an additional note, because I've already combed through this game, quite a few of these clips you will have seen before if you read the Nebraska defense FFFF. Perks of using a game where two teams on your schedule played each other close. They are still useful, and so I'm still using 'em. Personnel: Seth's chart (click makes big): Michigan State has landed on Payton Thorne at QB after fielding a QB competition between himself and Anthony Russo in the offseason. Mel Tucker definitely made the right decision, as Thorne has had a fine season for the Spartans, 15 TD to 4 INT on 61.2% completion and 9.3 yards per attempt. We will discuss Thorne quite a bit, and dig into his stats later on in this piece. At RB, they feature a Heisman contender in Kenneth Walker III, a master at making opponents miss and grinding out yards after contact. Like Thorne, we'll see Walker a lot in this article. At WR there's a bang-bang tandem of big play threats, Jayden Reed and Jalen Nailor, who are each averaging ~20 yards per reception, and both have at least one 60+ yard catch on the year. Both have breakaway speed and while Reed is the slot guy, both can line up outside and both go long. Tre Mosley is the "go over the middle for the shorter pass" guy, but even he is averaging 15.3 yards per reception with a 50+ yard catch of his own. The only other pass catcher to note is Connor Heyward, a beefy ex-RB who is now a sorta-TE, too short for the position at just 6'0", but his weight is sufficient enough to block (230) and they line him up all over the field. Those four all have 16+ catches, while no one else has more than 5 catches. The last name to note is blocking TE Tyler Hunt, who comes on in two TE sets and has five catches on the year. MSU's solution to their usually terrible OL has been to rotate 9-10 bodies and get by on committee, something that has worked decently well, although that might be a figment of weaker competition (we'll examine that later). The starters from left to right are Jarrett Horst - JD Duplain - Matt Allen - Kevin Jarvis - AJ Arcuri, many of those being names you may remember from the past, though Horst is a transfer in from Arkansas State. The second team includes Luke Campbell at tackle, Blake Bueter and Matt Carrick at guard, and Nick Samac at center. Each of those four players have received 189+ snaps on the season across 7 games, meaning that they are more than just a second string: there's real rotation at every position, hence the non-solid around every MSU OL starter. Special teams note: Jayden Reed is also the punt and kick returner and he's engineered some incredible returns. He's averaging over twenty yards per return on both punt and kick returns. When it comes to actual game predictions, I refuse to play along with the jokes and sandbaggery.
Legit think M wins this game 23-17. That's how I would bet if forced to put money on it in Vegas this weekend.
M is marginally better across the board. Well rounded team on offense, defense, and special teams. M gets the close W.

Ohio State is so above everyone else in the B10 though.
The winner of M vs MSU will probably meet... Florida or some shit... in the oh so amazing bloomin onion bowl game. The loser gets the troll Duke's Mayo bowl game. Woohoo!

And you're right about the ultimate destination of the winner of this game. Tampa/Orlando/Jacksonville it is.

Loser is off to Nashville or Charlotte vs Auburn or the Alabama v Georgia loser. We never get a fair matchup with the SEC. Never.

M's defense has been off and on. At times, the M defense looks great. Most metrics have M's defense in the top 15, right? Could be misleading...
For example, M shutout Nebraska in the 1st half. The 2nd half was a train wreck. Similar in the Rutgers game.

We'll certainly know more depending on how Kenneth Walker and Jalen Nailer look on Saturday.

Slim chance the winner of M vs MSU plays in the Rose Bowl. The Playoff is the Cotton and Orange Bowl this season. So I guess there's some importance.

My expectations are always with M playing the Florida Gators on January 1st. Typical M.

Well, if Ohio State is as good as you morons think they are, then they're CFP-bound. Then it's the 2nd best B10 team to the Rose Bowl. If Iowa loses one more game that would open the door fro the 2nd place team in the East.

If Michigan goes 10-2, they’ll be in a NY6 game.

Beat Sparty and they could realistically go 11-1. They’d definitively end up in the Rose Bow in that scenario.
