  • Wow, what a nail biter. That went back and forth and was anyone's game until the strip/fumble of Martinez. Glad that the good guys prevailed, but that was a really even game. But I must say, Nebraska is a much improved team from what we thought they would be. Glad to escape with the win. 6-0 Michigan. How many of you would have predicted that before the season. Not me...... lets keep it rolling.

    • I had them 4-2 at this point, with the last two games being the losses, so I'm inclined to take this one and run like a thief. But Michigan needs to spend the bye week looking at what they're doing at halftime, because this is the second time they've nearly given a game away they had under control at the half.

Exactly. Rutgers changed things up at the half, and completely bamboozled M's defense in the 2nd half. It looked to me like Nebraska did the same thing. McDonald got his tush handed to him in both games. He's inexperienced as a DC, and he's learning some tough lessons. Fortunately for him, he's got some players that have made some big plays.

UGLY win, .. but its a W. M has been the victim of many of those.

Man, that Martinez fumble ... Game changer.
What a game. Clutch way to pull out this close, big, win on the road for M. Oh, and that Haskins hurdle run. Legendary.

Not even exaggerating or overreacting, I would say this was one of the best days of college football that I can remember. Top to bottom. All day.
Noon - Texas vs Oklahoma, Arkansas vs Ole Miss
4pm - Penn State vs Iowa. Iowa gets the win!! #10 BYU upset.
          8pm - Crazy M win + Bama losing.

YES! I always watch The Red River Shootout. I couldn’t tune in today until right before halftime. I’ve always liked Oklahoma as a side team and that game seldom disappoints.

I have a niece and nephew who attend Iowa on academic scholarships. It was a bummer to lose last season to Covid and I was hoping they’d get the full CFB experience this season. Well, they were on the field in the melee afterwards! Check that box.

After those two games I didn’t think I could handle any more drama. And then the Huskers got feisty.

And then Bama lost. I was rooting for them so they kinda broke my streak today. But whatever. I DO have it on good authority that the bars in Iowa City welcomes the news of Texas A&M’s triumph.

            • I kept track of this game on my phone on a game tracker from mid-3rd on. The outcome was better than I had predicted.......A loss.

Have No comments of value b/c I didn't see any of it. I did look at the last page of posts in Snowflakes Offense. Looked no further as mostly complaining about Mcdonald getting schooled after Neb made half time adjustments. Whatever.

              Anyway, a solid W.

Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

              • Whenever some person or coach says halftime adjustments don't matter, show them this game. That first half was an abomination, much more bad offense than good defense.

Very few players should fight for extra yardage, just go down.

                • Escaped' with a win. Can't keep this up all season but still far exceeds what I thought this team would do this fall.

                  • First off congrats M. You were the better team. Not complicated...you ran the ball between the tackles and tackled much better than UNL...game over. In the end our same old bugaboos bit us in the ass. Crowd was the loudest I've heard in LNK easily since Miami 2014 and maybe OU 2009. M won in a very hostile environment. Best of luck the rest of the way. Met tons of great M fans...they all said they had a great time in LNK and was easily the best CFB environment they had been to. They all said they were treated like royalty the entire trip...even after the game. Great CFB game to see in person. UNL is the 6th best team in the B1G and is a tough out for anyone left...but unfortunately the B1G has 5 Top Ten teams right now. Going to be interesting to see how the B1G ends up. Right now I have it as OSU/M are #1 and 1a...Iowa 3rd, PSU 4th and MSU 5th.

                    Shut the fuck up Donny!

                    • Penn State, with Clifford, is #1a and M is #1b. W/O Clifford, Penn State is probably 4. Maybe worse.

That said, there's no way on earth PSU-Iowa was a real top 5 matchup.

                      • Wiz - without the turnovers, Nebraska wins that game. For the 2nd time this season, our DC (McDonald) got his rear end handed to him by a better opposing OC in the 2nd half, proving as Froot said, that 2nd half adjustments matter. With 3:00 to go, I was sitting there thinking, "Ok, 5-1 isn't bad for this team". I was conceding the loss. I think without the strip/fumble, the Huskers win, and I'm hoping that Husker fans aren't beating up on Martinez today. He's a great leader, and was fighting to get yards to help his team win. You can't tell a kid to turn off his competitive nature, when he's fighting for thos extra yards with the game on the line. It was just one of those things that happens. Michigan has been on the other side of many games like that, so I'm very familiar with the feeling.

I'm glad you had a good experience with Michigan fans in Lincoln. I don't think I've ever heard a M fan say that their experience in Lincoln was a bad one. I've always heard the opposite, that Lincoln is the best road stadium in the conference. I sincerely believe that, and its definitely on my bucket list to take in a game there one day.

Finally, I'm still not ready to annoint Michigan as a challenger for the BTE, much less the CCG. Far from it. M is definitely better than I expected, (duh) but we have to keep in mind that this schedule is still back-loaded, with the toughest games at the end. Nebraska was the toughest game of the 1st half of the season. They don't get easier.

I've still got OSU as #1 by a long shot. Their QB is the best in the conference and only getting better. PSU with Clifford is clearly #2, and I will carefully give Michigan the #3 spot at this point, and MSU as 3b. That one is going to be a dogfight in 3 weeks. They get a bye before playing us, and I'm expecting to see a lot of tricky stuff just for Michigan. I hope the networks don't stupidly make this a night game, because EL at night, no matter if Sparty wins or not, . will not be a good place to be. It will be the total opposite of what Lincoln was like last night.

Still a lot of football to be played. OSU is about where I expected them to be, and PSU is where I thought they'd be, as long as they have Clifford. M and MSU are the wild cards. Indiana is surprisingly sucking, and Rutgers/Maryland are having trouble matching up talent. I still expect a tough road game at Maryland.

                        • But that Haskins run though ... 😍
Can't wait for the Baltimore Ravens to draft Haskins in like the 4th RD and he turns into a 1K+ yard RB in the NFL eventually.

                          ...

While all of that about M is in the back of my mind, gotta appreciate the now to some extent. M is 6-0 and has a timely bye week. Soak up the moment.

                          • The more Michigan improves, the more work that is needed is exposed by an increasingly better opponent. NfW will allow M to work out some kinks before the MSU game that will be every bit as tight as Nebraska. Same goes for Indiana before PSU. Then there's Maryland before osu. I think the schedule clearly favors M because there's a winnable tussle before each remaining big game. Doesn't mean M won't wind up with 3 conference losses, but if Harbaugh and the (new) staff do their frickin' jobs, M-osu could be the most watchable B1G game this year.

                            • That was definitely a great run by Haskins. His best of the year so far. I hope he's got a few more of those in him because M is going to need it.

Definitely, enjoy the moment. 6-0 is way better than expected. Its been ugly. Keep everything in perspective. MSU, PSU and OSU is still a gauntlet, and if M can come out of that at 1-2, they'll still be ahead of what I expected.

                              • I still worry about the receiving corps. Gotta catch the dang ball.

BTW, Xavier Worthy had 261 yards receiving for Texas on Saturday. We could surely use him this season.
