It's a fact. Michigan's results in road night games (not counting Rutgers) during the Harbaugh era:

2015: At Utah. Lost 24-17. Never led
2016: At Iowa. Michigan was 9-0 ranked #2. Lost 14-13
2017: At PSU. Lost 42-13 Never led
2018: At ND. Lost 24-17. Never led
2019: At PSU. Lost 28-21. Never led. Fell behind 21-0.
2020: At Minny. WON 49-24. Covid year, no fans, Minny went 3-4

But if you count Rutgers, it's a 3-5 record. Night games on the road. 😅 Not too bad.
OKAY, so maybe let's say 1-5.

Going to laugh if @ MSU and @ Penn State are night games. MSU already has a bye week before the M game... don't make it at night.

        Hoke era:

        2014: At ND. Lost 31-0. Never...mind
        At RUTGERS. LOST 26-24

        2013: At UConn. Won 24-21
At PSU: Lost 43-40 (3OT) Weird 5pm start. Disregard if you choose

2012: At Jerry World vs. Alabama. Lost 41-14. Never led
At ND. Lost 13-6. Never led
At Nebraska. Lost 23-9. Never led

        2011: At NW. Won 42-24.

As you can plainly see, we suck balls in night games on the road. Conversely, are very good in them at home!

If history is any indication, that PSU game will be a prime time whiteout.

So in the last decade, Michigan's night game road wins are against Rutgers, UConn, NW, and Minny. They've lost EVERY OTHER SINGLE GAME.

FWIW, Michigan played a night game at PSU in 2010 as well. They lost 41-31 and [checks notes] never led. The PSU games definitely tend to be prime time affairs. They play November 13 this year and that is far and away the best Big Ten game of the day. Maybe FOX will make it the Big Noon Kickoff (please!) but I doubt it.

If it makes you feel any better, Harbaugh sucks dick on the road in the daytime too.

There used to be a rule, or a provision in the TV contract, that a team could not play more than 2 night games per season in the Big Ten.

That has probably gone by the wayside.

I forgot about that rule. And the game is in November. There was also a caveat that I think both teams have to agree to play a night game if it's after Halloween or something along those lines. That'll probably be the Big Nooner since we'll be playing our second night game this weekend.

I'm sure that rule went away with the two network contacts and the big ten network. You wouldn't be able to schedule 3 night games a week with that rule.

Having a 7 PM start is nice, the 8 PM starts for the ABC games is too late for these marathon college games. The NFL games can get away with it because they aren't going much past 3 hours. College games are odysseys that can take 4 plus hours.

Night games suck unless you're a student on a weekend bender. Nothing more than a network enrichment stunt. All M games should kick off at 12:30 except osu at High Noon.

The network enrichment stunts are what puts the power in the Power 5.
