Welp. 2021 is over and M's football team lost in the semis of the CFP to one of the two usual suspects that get there way too often; the third and fourth, Clemson and "the ohio state", won't be down and out for long ($$$$$ and I mean legit $$$$).
Why is that happening? Because both those teams are uber talented (Clemson and osu have both been and recently). They are stacked with the best HS talent that a team can recruit .....errr, remunerate in some form or fashion. Let's stop kidding ourselves. What's been going on for centuries in CFB under the table has just been made legal and will become more common as time passes.
Back up the brinks truck Wade and forget about giving you're players a good college education or denying them scholar ships unless their grades meet your admission's department standards. Iffin you want to play with the likes of UGA and Bama, that's what needs to happen. Calling Stephen Ross and all other deep pocketed donors that watched last night and know what has to happen ...... or maybe you don't or don't care. That seems to be an M problem as we enter a new age of semi-pro CFB.
2021 Michigan has strange bedfellows:
CFP semifinal games on New Year’s Eve:
2015 Clemson 37, Oklahoma 17
2015 Alabama 38, Michigan State 0
2016 Alabama 24, Washington 7
2016 Clemson 31, Ohio State 0
2021 Alabama 27, Cincinnati 6
2021 Georgia 34, Michigan 11
None of these games has been decided by fewer than three scores.
