Flying "back" to Michigan? Where was he?

John Bacon is the only writer who had it right when Harbaugh came from SF. I'd trust his opinion before anyone else's.

He's been vacationing in Southern California with family

Note; Liney Henson and Jefff Moss first reported it.

When that emerged, if it was me, I'd be telling Harbaugh you have 24h to consider and sign the contract offer or we're pulling it.

After that, you send him and his staff packing. A complete restart, not something I would normally support, can't possibly be any worse than a head coach who has one foot out the door and one foot in. It is apparent to me that players and coaches knew JH wasn't engaged with M football and we can all list valid reasons why that was then and is now true. No more proof than the disasters v. MSU and PSU at home is needed. Nobody gave a shit.

Fuck Jim Harbaugh. He's done enough damage.
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

Michigan should and used to be a program that would never be someone’s fallback option.

The best bet is to stay the course and see it through. Real Michigan Men see what Coach Jim brings to the table. They don't give up in people after one bad year in Ann Arbor.. Babies cry, little boys run but men stand and fight.

This is where I'm at at this point. It's fine to ask the university you love for a few weeks of breathing space to orchestrate a face-saving exit, but this has gone on long enough for him to get a handshake deal and let Michigan move on. If he loves the university as he says he does he'd fall his sword already. Stop hurting the football program you purportedly love.

                    • The whole thing is a shitshow entirely of M's own making. The only thing they've done right re football in the recent term is bailing on 3 games and saving themselves from the 2-7 disaster that was surely coming.

                      • Bacon's admission that "nobody has a handle on this.." sounds like another way of saying that the University and Harbaugh are playing a pretty effective game of MYOB on us. Maybe I'm giving them too much credit, but it looks like it was long decided that Harbaugh was going to depart, but that the specifics needed to be worked out. THIS is the week where the market opens up, so it would be quite surprising if this isn't sorted out by the weekend.

                        • Yeah, I mean I guess if the understandiing is that HARBAUGH!!! is gone then whether it happens on December 29 or January 13 isn't an issue at all. That's a trifling amount of time in the grand scheme of the program and suich.

However, if the situation is such that M has offered HARBAUGH!!!! a conisderably shittier contract (in terms of stability), HARBAUGH!!!! no likey and is looking at NFL and if HARBAUGH!!|!!! doesn't find something he likes he'll sign on for, essentially, one more year, then....that's a total fucking shitshow.

Given what I know about M (mostly from the likes of you idiots), I can't rule out the latter. And that's extremely troubling if you care, at all, about M football.

                            • The view I have from my double wide in Shiawassee County is, Warde Manuel wants Harbaugh gone, but he doesn't want to fire him. He wants Harbaugh to fire himself. So, hence this "extension" that cuts his base pay, incentivizes the rest of it, and makes it easier to fire him later, if Manuel chooses to do so. Harbaugh is no fool, so he sees this, and now its on him to decide whether to sign the silly extension, or head back to the NFL to some gullible NFL team that's willing to give him more guaranteed money, and probably a bit more job security.

So, as of now, its all on Harbaugh. Stay at Michigan, and go out on a limb, or jump out of that tree entirely, and head back to the NFL.

The move needs to happen soon, because 2022 recruiting is already in full swing. Whomever the HC is needs to get going.

                              • If Warde Manual wants him gone, then allowing him to potentially come back for 2021 is a funny way to go about things.
