Staff needed blown-up, but the kids still need coached up and I don't see enough proven 'coaches' on either side of the ball.

Bellamy and Hart are 'feel good' choices due to their connections to the program, but its going to take more than that to dig out of the mess the program is in. Bellamy has had success on the HS level, and he brings Donovan Edwards with him, but his resume is quite thin. Edwards looked like a man among children yesterday in the HS Finals."in order to lead America you must love America"

OL is by far the hardest and most important position to coach. My position is that there are others that could do the job as good but no way should Moore be given on the job training here. Bellamy hasn't coached at this level, Moore has never had as much responsibility, and Gattis is still a novice playcaller. The O staff has no senior member. Multiple reports that Coach Ed didn't mesh well with Gattis and that the kids didn't like Warinner personally. One kid apparently credited Castillo with helping him more than Warinner (again, rumors, so who knows)

If Bellamy is being slotted as the OL coach, that makes no sense at all. He was a WR in his playing days, and his specialty at the HS level was RB's.
I don't think its going to matter much anyway. 2021 is going to be a throwaway year since it will be Harbaugh's last. No matter who's coaching, this team isn't going to finish above .500.
No way.
EDIT: Bellamy's position corrected. My bad.Last edited by lineygoblue; January 24, 2021, 11:01 AM."in order to lead America you must love America"

A quick read of mgoboard, apparently its being reported that EW might stay on as an analyst. Comments that kids didn't like EW and EW didn't get along with Gattis or JH. Some think that Bellamy and Edwards were a package deal; some opinions involve Edwards being silent committ since October. Getting Bellamy therefore had noting to do with Edwards but required EW to vacate a coaching position. Bellamy is not likely to end up as the OL coach ..... all of that makes a lot more sense than Bellamy and Edwards being a package deal driving EW out but it didn't hurt.
All of this just seems like a continuation of the Jim Harbaugh clown show to me. Whatever.Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

Yep, continuation of the clown show indeed. By appearances, it seems like Jimbo thinks younger coaches will equal better connections with players and therefore better results. That’s all I can make of it. And experience as a coach of coordinator appears unnecessary. This looks like a disaster is the making to me. I see 6-6 as the ceiling. None of these moves inspire confidence.

The great thing about Gretch and M accelerating to panic warp speed is that we can now really focus on HARBAUGH!!!! and his staff overhaul. And, for that matter, the limitless prospects for next season.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?
Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.

To review, the apparent coaching roster for 2021 is complete:
Head Coach/QBs: Jim Harbaugh
Offensive Coordinator: Josh Gattis
Co-OC/Offensive Line: Sherrone Moore
Running Backs: Mike Hart
Wide Receivers: Ron Bellamy
Tight Ends/Special Teams: Jay Harbaugh
Defensive Coordinator: Mike Macdonald
Co-DC/Cornerbacks: Maurice Linguist
Defensive Line: Shaun Nua
Linebackers: Brian Jean-Mary
Safeties: George Helow
I have no idea what it actually is but it looks like the average age of the M coaching staff went from around 55 to around 35. I did not know that Sherrone Moore played OL for the Sooners for two years after playing that position for another two at a small college. So, he's not devoid of knowledge of OL play but coaching it is a lot different than playing it. I guess he was an OK TE's coach.
The predominant comments about these staff changes is little coaching experience at this level and young.
Warriner is no longer on the coaching staff. Rumors still persist that he's staying on at M in what capacity isn't clear. There is also talk of him going to Jacksonville with UFM. I've heard Warriner may go to Jacksonville. Warriner remains a very good OL coach and a very mediocre recruiter. The NFL may suit him.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?

Apparently Michigan has added one final new assistant for 2021. He's a fellow named Ryan Osborn, who was an assistant at UT-Martin. While that is unimpressive, he's also worked with Dan Mullen at Miss State and Florida. He was also being pursued by Kirby Smart at JawJa, but chose to come to Michigan.
He will be a defensive analyst at Michigan. Some on the site I saw said this is a fairly big deal, but they're into rose colored glasses a lot too, so there you go.
I believe this is the last position that was open on the staff.
Ron Bellamy will be the TE coach, and Sherrone Moore will move to OL and become a "co-offensive coordinator"."in order to lead America you must love America"
