If cases are still ticking up, then I guess it makes sense.

I am still surprised. I honestly thought they'd play this thing even if they had to suit up civilians.

All Ohio State has to do, literally, is play any B10 team this Saturday and they'll be in the CG. They could lose by 80. Doesn't matter. All they need to do is play. Instead, the B10 -- those fucking bitches that were so irrationally terrified of covid they completely mismanged the fuck out the entire season -- will penalize Ohio State for NOT playing by making them ineligible for the B10 CG.

That's the Karen Warren's world. JFC.

      Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.

LOL that I forgot it's only Tuesday. Somehow I was thinking it was Wednesday, but that makes the decision seem less conspiratorial.

At least they brought their band with them.

There's absolutely zero entertainment value to be had from this game. We're talking sea turtle hatchlings trying to reach safety bad here.

OSU hasn't lost out on anything other than being able to beat down another hapless Michigan team. They'll get that opportunity again for at least the next 5-10 years.

Barry Alvarez has already said that the Big Ten will "revisit" the 6 game requirement if Michigan had to cancel.

OSU may be idle this week, but they'll be playing NW in Indy next Saturday for the Big Ten Championship.

Afterward, they'll be selected to the playoffs.

            Nothing has changed.

Don't some of them at least make it to the sea?

Liney, I'm afraid you drastically overestimate the level of pride within the Michigan football program. Now, if the numbers coming out are accurate, then it's a legit reason they can't play. But, IMO they are VERY relieved they don't have to play. They know that even if they went down there with a full healthy roster they would get obliterated. I'm not exaggerating when I say OSU would score in the 70s. You can't possibly trot out a contract extension for Harbaugh after that. This is a very fortuitous Covid outbreak to put it mildly.

Hopefully there's nothing to be conspiratorial about, because not playing makes it a lot easier for Harbaugh to return.

It's fortuitous in a lot of ways. It allows them to avoid the OSU blowout. It allows them to write-off the shitty performance as being a one time outlier, and perhaps most importantly of all, it avoided Michigan stadium being a loud chorus of boos during the Wisconsin blowout and the PSU loss. If the stadium had been full for those games, I expect that people would have been chanting "Fire Harbaugh". Warde may not know how much the fanbase wants Harbaugh gone.

100% correct. Talent, take solace in the fact that at least none of your players will sustain a fluky injury going into the postseason.

Yep, but that's where the sharks come in.

Since I've got some free time on Saturday, maybe I'll look for some videos.

My heart generally doesn't lie to me, and in this case, my gut reaction is that I'm glad that the game is cancelled. Also, Talent is disappointed, so that's probably a good thing. The jury is out on whether we successfully deprived OSU of a championship shot, but at least we deprived them of three hours of uninterrupted enjoyment and recruiting propaganda on Saturday.

Maybe I did. I really thought they'd play this thing no matter what. The teams and the conference will be missing out on a big chunk of TV money with the cancellation, so I guess the Covid numbers must really be seriously high.

I'm relieved they don't have to play as well. I agree it was going to be a blowout even if M was fully healthy. Probably in the 40-50 point spread range. This injury and Covid wracked team would have given up at least 70. And that's only if Day pulled his starters in the 3rd, which he likely would not.

I'm interested to see actual numbers of players out due to Covid.

I would have wanted the blowout to happen if it could have gotten Harbaugh fired, but it sounds like that won't happen.

Talent -- I know that you are disappointed, but you are going to have to accept another 5 years or so of guaranteed blowout wins over Michigan as consolation for not getting to see this year's game.
