The illegal bat thing might be the luckiest play I’ve ever seen. Not only is not a turnover, but it’s a penalty that converts a failed 3rd and 10 into a first down. Lol.
Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?
    Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.

One of the dumber rules I’ve seen but I’ll take it.

M looks like a team that needed Rutgers to miss a FG to escape Piscataway.

This is the second time this year Michigan's lost to a one-win team at home. Of course, Michigan is a two-win team, so that's not all that surprising, but it would be the end for any Michigan coaching staff in a normal year, and it ought to be the end for this one. I just don't see how they can continue with this and have any credibility with the team going forward.

27-17 is your final. The final straw for Rich Rodriguez was probably the Penn State game in 2010. Brady Hoke's downfall started with Penn State in 2013. Jim Harbaugh's end started some time ago(I'd argue with Michigan State this year, but the shortcomings have been apparent for some time), but this should be the final nail in the coffin. It's time to call Matt Campbell, or Luke Fickell, or whatever younger, up-and-coming head coach wants a crack at this job. Michigan badly needs to re-energize this program.

Just a pathetic performance all around vs 0-5 Penn State. Not much else you can say.
Unfortunate that McNamara injured his right shoulder early in the game. Though I’m not sure if M would have won considering Don Brown’s defense.

Oh well. At least the Detroit Lions are cleaning house. That news makes today rather awesome.

I didn't watch the game. I don't know how you can stomach doing so.
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

Fickell should probably get a courtesy call, but I doubt he'd be interested. I'd guess that the chances are less than 10% that he'd even agree to an interview. He'd also get about the same reception that Rich Rod got. Too many factions against him. I think he's smart enough to see that. He'd be more welcome elsewhere.

I don't want any current Big Ten HC. Not one.

Some others that I think should get a call are Brett Bielma, Doc Holliday, Brian Ferentz, Bill O'Brien and maybe Bob Stoops. Not sure what their names are, but either OC or DC at Clemson might be worth a phone call. And yes, I still would like to see Sark get a call, in spite of AA's objections.

As for the game, this is an uninspired team that looks like they've given up. There's talent on the team, albeit not NC caliber. But, they're better than their record. The only game they should have lost was Indiana. The Hoosiers are for real this year. Penn State flies home tonight thinking they're "good", courtesy of Michigan. I can just imagine the tears that Franklin shed in his post game comments to the team.

I'm really disappointed in how Harbaugh's time has turned out. He had a lot of promise, a great resume, and he stood to unite all the factions on State Street. The table was set for him to have a long and successful tenure at Michigan, one that could have taken him well into his senior years as HC. He could have been as legendary as any HC that has walked that sideline. Instead, he will be relegated to Rich Rod and Brady Hoke status. And that's a shame, because it didn't have to happen.

Fickell is a Buckeye, zero chance.

You wouldn't want Tom Allen or Jeff Brohm? Both of them have done quite well, given where they are. Pat Fitzgerald would be a good hire too.

Brian Frerentz is a bum. Bielema -- no thanks. His Wisky success didn't translate to Arkansas. Fickell #1 choice. If he says no, move on to Matt Campbell, or maybe Allen or Brohm. Lots of at least "good" candidates, albeit no sure things. Bill O'Brien would be very interesting. I'm not sure about the Elder Stoops.

Paul Chryst needs to get a call too.

I sorta like Mark Stoops but that would be a second tier hire.

At any rate, I'm not worried about there being a dearth of candidates. What our administration does once the guy gets here is a little scary though.

I’ve seen too many instances over the last couple of years when Iowa fans hate on Brian Ferentz for poor offensive performances and play calling.
                            Also:
                            - M offense would return to the stone age with a QB under center / old pro style system.
                            - Ferentz was given a P5 offensive coordinator job because of his dad.
                            - Iowa is not a powerhouse when it comes to recruiting.

                            Hard pass on Ferentz Jr.

Yeah, no way on Ferentz Jr. Campbell is my #1 preference. I don’t think Fickel would take the job and I’m not sure I’d want him. I’m just not sold on his success at Cincinnati. Taking over Iowa State and winning in Norman and Austin is far more impressive to me. And the Moeller analogy doesn’t take into account that he was a Michigan assistant for like 15 years before taking over as HC. He didn’t come in off the street as a Buckeye. Fickell has earned the right to be considered for a major program but there’s several other guys I’d prefer.

Is Campbell ready though? It seems a shame that this is not taking place 2 years down the road when Nick Sheridan and Mike Hart would be more viable.
2012 Detroit Lions Draft: 1) Cordy Glenn G , 2) Brandon Taylor S, 3) Sean Spence olb, 4) Joe Adams WR/KR, 5) Matt McCants OT, 7a) B.J. Coleman QB 7b) Kewshan Martin WR
