There are 3 power 5 conferences playing football (ACC, Big 12, SEC) and 3 smaller conferences (AAC, Conference USA and the Sun Belt)

Again. I will say if the US had not dithered around and the Trump administration CF the response, it is certainly possible that there would be college football being played everywhere. But they didn't so we are where we are.

I think it completely indefensible to cancel the season before you have to. Try. Fucking try. Actively work on protocols. Actively do everything you can to make it happen. If you have to cancel games or even cancel the season in the middle of October then, well, shit happens. At least you fucking tried. Instead, they quit. Like giant fucking pussies they quit 8 weeks before any real go/no-go decision had to be made.
High school football is being played all over the country. Some games are being canceled. The vast majority are being played. This really isn't that fucking hard.
And to answer your specific question -- canceling on August 25th would have been almost as ass fucking stupid. It would have every bit as pussified.
We have constantly evolving facts. We have consistently improved in treating this bastard of a virus. Death rates are way down from the April debacle. We have massively improved testing. It is evolving into a completely manageable virus. It is the height of stupidity to make a decision on Covid 2 months from the actual event. Or, if you assume the B10 isn't stupid, they never wanted to played, which makes them giant fucking pussies or, worst case scenario -- playing politics with college football.

This really is very straight-forward. The SEC, ACC and B12 are trying to playing CFB. The B10 is not. It may turn out that the former 3 conferences can't make it work. They may run into issues that flummox their best intentions. But, at least they are doing everything they can to try to play. The B10 is not. The B10 doesn't even want to try to play. That is fucking disgraceful and COMPLETELY INDEFENSIBLE.
