With all the broken ribs you endured from repeated atomic elbows surely at least one could have punctured a lung and spared us all your gasbaggery.

      I must register my disappointment.

      • Good read, talen ...... there is the appearance - and maybe I'm biased because I don't frequent the left, prog or out right marxist web sites - that journalists are starting to talk sense about the fundamental causes of the current social unrest. That is, specifically, the misguided, frankly anti-American, pro-socialist mind-set of D politicians who are in charge of the cities where rioting, looting and burning has been allowed to occur. That argument can be extended to the idiocy of "defunding" law enforcement as a means of correcting the real problems of poor police training - entirely fixable without eliminating the capacity of law enforcement to enforce the law and insure domestic tranquility.

Allowing the left to use racism as a tool to enable this shit absolutely needs to be called out. That racial injustice exists is a separate issue and not one that will be solved by any of the current tactics being employed by D liberals to advance whatever cause they attach to it.
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

Back in the day when 'rasslin' had better story lines than the afternoon soap operas ...

The other deal is that are you really going to have college kids (who are not getting paid and making the universities lots of money) be locked down 24/7? Taking virtual classes, no one not associated directly with the sport/AD office allowed in? That is what is going to have to be done. It is an incredibly bad bad look.
As recently as a couple months ago I felt the same way. When Clemson convened for summer camp and had 30 positives I was pointing and laughing right along with many others. It'll never work! What are these idiots thinking!? But then we find out that they've only had ONE positive test since July 2nd. Michigan has had ZERO positives in the last month. Clearly the protocols that are in place are working perfectly. I'd like to know how many of the at-large student body is being tested twice a week for Covid. My guess: ZERO.

The key for me has always been if students are on campus or not. If no general student population, then no sports. But the reverse should also be true. You use the examples of the NHL/NBA bubbles and while universities cannot replicate that same exact model, whatever they are doing is pretty damn close given the incredibly low number of positive cases. What makes it even more frustrating is that a league like the Big Ten has the resources to pull it off, just not the will. Also, keep in mind that they are all still practicing. They just can't tackle people in different uniforms. If physical contact was the issue, what difference does it make to practice every day but you can't play a game in an empty stadium on Saturday? I don't follow the logic.

The powers-that-be need to tailor their decisions based on new information, not how everyone felt back in May. Currently the age group that comprises college athletes makes up 0.02% of all deaths with Covid. The total number of deaths related to Covid in the 15-24 cohort as a % of population is statistically zero. It's completely negligent. So I have a really hard time with their standard canard of "our player's safety is our number one issue" or whatever. The numbers consistently show that athletes participating in their program's protocol have significantly lower positive rates than the rest of the student body.

The safest place on campus for a Big Ten football player is the football field.

            • Riots are the result of decades of cultural rot and Marxist domination of America's educational institutions. This cancer has now spread to the rest of America's institutions, including Corporate America, which is now willing to commit suicide in the name of Social Justice. It has more or less been hiding in plain sight, but the gutless Cuckservatives that have run the Republican Party since Newt Gingrich was sent packing have been mortally terrified of any form of ideological conflict. A wise man once said "Politics is downstream of culture" and we are seeing the result.

If Michigan had 30 positive tests the day before a game, then the course of action should be to sit those players and play a bunch of back-ups and walk-ons. The expectation should not be zero cases. There will be cases. I'll bet just about anything that one of the teams that is playing will run into this problem. Our attitude should be "next man up, the show must go on".

                • I didn't realize that so many states were allowing HS football until last weekend while watching ESPN. Seems like Michigan is one of only a few that's not allowing it.

I'm waiting to hear how many COVID positive tests come from the past weekend's games. So far, I've not seen or heard anything.

Agreed. Like MLB. You go on the C19 list until you get back a couple negative tests and continue living life. At some point we need to shift to a policy that recognizes the need to coexist with Covid rather than believing we can hide from it forever. And if people want to opt-out, fine. I understand completely. But players should also be given the opportunity to opt-IN.

Liney...there is only one state with a republican governor that isn't playing hs football...maryland. But in the 22 democratic governor states...only 7 are playing. Tell me again this isn't political...

The problem with that is that players aren't going out there as individuals, but as representatives of the University and the Conference. Thus, their assets are vulnerable If ANYthing goes wrong - even if it is unrelated to playing the sport.

I'd be interested in how the SEC/ACC/B12 address the same liability issues. Clearly, they think the juice is worth the squeeze.
