  • Iowa, PSU, OSU, and Nebraska want to play. Those guys should play a three game season between the four teams.

    • Or they could play a 6 game home and home season

A vaccine would be a miracle if it is produced by then, and relying on miracles generally is bad policy.

If a short schedule is OK in the spring, why is it not OK now?

          • And most teams are continuing to practice now. Heck, Michigan will have an NFL Combine event in October. It’s just silly.

              Bingo.

And as AA noted, almost every Big Ten team is continuing to work out. I think only Rutgers has suspended practices.

So the question remains. Why not at least have some sort of a mini-season? Play 4-6 games and call it good. Its better than nothing.

I don't think the pandemic numbers are going to be better in January.

And unless both Michigan and MSU plan to play their games at Ford Field, I have no idea how they'll play Winter football. Even with an artificial surface like Michigan Stadium, that field is going to be as hard as a rock. Its not a heated field like Lambeau Field in Green Bay. Not to mention the temperatures in February. That's usually the coldest month of the winter.

There's been a lot of stupid decisions by officials doing the deciding and that's across the board. I can't think of one decision related to the pandemic that I couldn't find something wrong with it. Pandemic management in the US has been a catastrophe ...... the BT's nonsensical decision to not play any league games in the fall is just another bad decision in a long run of them at multiple levels of governance going back to January. It's as if no one is bold enough to make a move and if they do, they're shouted down by the meek and afraid as if to prevent the strong from looking good and the weak from being embarrassed.

The P3 are going to make the BT look embarrassingly bad and I don't think the BT cares with the president's behind the decision sitting in their white castles haughtily insisting they are right. They're not. But, I'll guarantee you they will send out their mouth pieces to collect every bit of data they can to show how the P-3 moved too boldly and will pay for it. The P3 would be well advised to start mounting a PR counter offensive in anticipation of that now.

Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

                  • I feel your pain, Wiz. I hope that your bar is able to make some money on the football that WILL be available.

Kevin Warren can go sit on a cactus.

                          • I don't think Warren is entirely to blame. He is the mouth piece for the conference's presidents and chancellors. I've never fully understood the NCAA's organizational structure. I do know the U presidents exert enormous influence on the NCAA. How that works at the conference front office level I'm not sure. Back room, very private and very restricted conference calls among this group that probably went down during the decision making process prevented the influence of scientific and medical experts who have more muted views of the virus's threat. It's typical of officials who don't want their reasoning questioned, fear public debate that fosters transparency and therefor associate only with those who share similar views or can be influenced to them. Fits the academics that attain U presidencies to a tee.

I also think the Schlissel had influence among the rest of the conferences presidents - a lot. I'm not surprised the presidents feared C-19 outbreaks and the impact of those well beyond the actual threat. I'm still baffled that the death and dire consequences narrative hasn't been tempered - the facts overwhelmingly support the probability of C-19 risk, regardless of case numbers, is considerably less than political correctness dictates.

It would have taken a ground swell of nay-sayers to convince the presidents not to fear C-19 to the extent that shut-downs were appropriate COAs in the face of the virus. Who is going to stand up and do that when the tide of fear has overcome sensibility?

                            • Well, if the SEC, ACC and Big XII have anything close to a successful football season, the rest of CFB is going to have a lot of egg on their faces

                              • We don't know if Warren is 100% to blame because the process had no transparency at all. Maybe Warren is a puppet or maybe he's the dictator. We don't know at this point.
