College athletes only have a 99.9995% chance of surviving the season. Cancelling it and sending us all back into isolated cocoons is definitely the right move here.

Yeah, I don’t even know what to say.
Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?
      Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.

Let’s say that there are about 10,000 scholarship athletes in Division I-A. If you play 100 seasons with those 10,000 guys, about 5 of them will die of Covid-19. About 1 every 20 years.

To put those numbers into perspective, 2 football players in the B1G have died during summer conditioning in the past 20 years (Rashidi Wheeler and Jordan McNair).

Sports are dangerous. We need to cancel them all forever.

They know that so the new fear is heart inflammation. Myocardial fuckedupus. Or something.

            Latest 7:30 pm Monday rumor:

Michigan, Ohio State, Nebraska and Penn State are looking at folding in with the Big 12 for the 2020 season in football.

This one could have legs because Franklin, Day, Harbaugh and Frost have all come out strongly today in favor of playing.

            We'll see ..

No legs to this. Because fall football has been canceled (spring football might happen). OSU, Michigan and Penn State presidents (who would be making the decision) all voted against football. Nebraska did vote for football though.
2012 Detroit Lions Draft: 1) Cordy Glenn G , 2) Brandon Taylor S, 3) Sean Spence olb, 4) Joe Adams WR/KR, 5) Matt McCants OT, 7a) B.J. Coleman QB 7b) Kewshan Martin WR

How about Iowa? I've got no special love for them, but heck, they weren't cowards.

I won't dismiss this until the official announcement comes tomorrow.

There's a LOT of money out there that could be had by any/all of these teams playing at least SOME football this year. The networks are going to be begging for football games to actually be played. If the top teams of the Big Ten that WANT to play go along with other schools that want to play, it could be a money bonanza for them.

Maybe guys like Franklin, Harbaugh and Day could persuade their respective presidents to reconsider.

I wouldn't count it out just yet.

Ohio State has NOT voted for cancellation. The President is against it. And CRD is on TV arguing against it.

An Ohio State University source tells http://cleveland.com OSU would not vote to cancel Big Ten football in 2020, but it also does not expect a vote tonight.

It would be something if this was a trial balloon. Of course, two other conferences plus UConn and Old Dominion weren't bluffing.

A couple years after I graduated a Cornell lacrosse player was killed in the middle of a game. He was a defensive player from what I remember. Stepped in front of a shot and it hit him directly in the heart. Went into cardiac arrest and died before they could get him to a hospital.
