Warren releases a letter explaining the B1G position. No football this fall and is not going to be revisited. What a chickenshit. Do a PC and face the fucking music you fucking POS.

Time to pop the popcorn. Shits about the get real. Let the games begin.

I agree. That's a carrot being dangled in front of the fans and players who want to play, and there is no chance that its going to happen. College football in the Big Ten for 2020 is toast. And that's a fricking shame.

It should have been left up to the individual schools. It should not have been a 'all or none' call.

They're going to try spring football for high school here in Michigan, or so they say. I have no idea how they're going to fit a football season into an already full winter/spring sports schedule. What are they going to do with baskeball, both boys and girls? What about wrestling? ''

I think they're dangling the same carrot that the Big Ten is.

The truth is, more sports are going to get cancelled.

I’m glad the myocarditis the BigTen cancelled their season on will not be an issue in 4 months. Also, the BigTen is practicing. Myocarditis is apparently not an issue with practice, just playing.

Oh, and that was a shitty study they extrapolated that fear from.

To lay it out clearly I think if you can have students on campus you can play football. The football program is a much more manageable bubble than the general student population ever will be

There's some real smoke to 6 B10 teams trying to forge ahead with a season. It seems very unlikely at the moment, but I've read enough to think that it's probably true.

There's "twitter smoke" that they have 5 and want M, but Schlissel and Whitmer are both a Hard "No" and that's the stumbling block. HARBAUGH!!! -- to his credit -- wants to play.

Here is my best guess of where the B10 stands based on comments, perception and facts:

Absolutely NO: Maryland, Rutgers, Northwestern, Michigan State and Minnesota. I put MSU in because of their program situation, Governor and the fact they'll lose money. I put Minnesota in because of the comments of Fleck and their President.

Absolutely YES: Ohio State, Nebraska, Iowa, Penn State

Varying degrees of MAYBE: M, Illinois, Purdue, Wisconsin and Indiana. Of these 5, I think Wisconsin is the easiest peel and I think they're probably one foot in w/ the 4 Yes votes. I don't know if M can extricate itself from the politics of Covid. So, I think Illinois and Purdue are probably the others who might. I think Indiana is a longshot, but they're not an absolute no.

Realistically, we're a "no". I don't know about those other guys.

Actually, looking at how universities respond to outbreaks, everyone including the SEC is a "no". Outbreaks are inevitable. It will all get shut down.

I wonder if the "no" is less about politics and more about what the "experts" have led us to believe about COVID risk. Admittedly it's probably not that important to flesh this out. But, as I've categorized it, the baked in response to an outbreak is to isolate followed by shutting down the suspected venue where the outbreak might have gotten traced to and unfortunately along with host of other venues with identifiable risk. The sledge hammer approach instead of a surgical one.

Think about the probability of error along the way to choosing and implementing a COA that includes shuttering. It's huge on multiple levels. Officials making these closing decisions have to be convinced that COVID facts and the probability for error in the data upon which they are basing the closing decisions are not on their side. They have to be made to understand that the political implications of over-kill are greater than those of moving forward and playing.

A hard sell in the age of alternate realities created by both social media and the press.
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

This is very true. Schlissel and Whitmer are big pals, and he's not going to rattle her cage by over-riding her COVID mandates, and letting the team play. If Schembechler was still around, and wanted the team to play, he'd probably carry more thump than Harbaugh does. But, Harbaugh and Manuel aren't going to be able to get past Schlissel and Whitmer.

And as for MSU, Whitmer is a MSU grad, and they won't take a breath without her approval. I think that even Izzo and MSU Basketball are no better than 50/50 this season.

I hope that 5-6 Big Ten teams buck the trend and play ball. I'd watch OSU and PSU play. I wouldn't root for either, but I'd tune in to see CFB. So would millions of other viewers, including a whole lot of Michigan fans.

                        • Can't argue with that.

They sure don't have any balls.

It totally depends on a vaccine at this point. i think there will be spring football. Not a full schedule but I can see 4-6 games. Remember 4 games you can use before burning a redshirt. And I don't think having 4-6 games if it ends in Feb. would preclude having a full schedule in the fall. Spring Practice would be less physical but more mental working I thinking.

                            • According to this writer, you guys need to stop blaming Kevin Warren for stopping Big Ten football.

                              • And this writer says SHAME on all those Big Ten football parents that want their kid to play football this fall.

                                The NERVE of them ....

Big Ten parents are set to protest Friday at conference headquarters because they are angry their sons aren't allowed to play football in the fall.
