Sounds like Harbaugh wanted to play too. I think its safe to say that there a lot of unhappy and even angry FB coaches and players in the B10 today.

How dare they actually think of the health (and liability) of their student athletes (and being sued). Of course, putting athletes out there where the university makes a ton of money off them (though it is a pittance compared to the research dollars out there) during a pandemic would probably lead to a strong push leading to unionization (and maybe getting a union as well) which would be an absolute nightmare for the NCAA.2012 Detroit Lions Draft: 1) Cordy Glenn G , 2) Brandon Taylor S, 3) Sean Spence olb, 4) Joe Adams WR/KR, 5) Matt McCants OT, 7a) B.J. Coleman QB 7b) Kewshan Martin WR

How dare they decide what’s best for student athletes instead of letting student athletes decide. If they’re concerned about health then ban football. It’s a dangerous sport. But for that we let students decide for themselves.
But, hey, they only have a 99.995% chance of surviving — and that’s if they covid.
Typical irrational, unsubstantiated decision by “experts” that hilariously think they know best. The lying and complete disregard for facts is stunning.
Those people and people like them can fuck off.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?
Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.

Sure, now show us the FMEA, with realistic numbers for severity, occurrence and detection associated with COVID and CFB players. It’s a pretty common design tool and no automotive supplier would release so much as third row cup holder without doing one.
But, it’s not about the health and safety of the PLAYERS as much as it is about absolving themselves of blame if somebody dies and can be linked, even tenuously to the program.
it’s not about what’s right. It’s about fear and how it can be used as an excuse for not analyzing risks, making smart decisions and having the stones to back them up

What's going to pretty much piss me off to no end is that these people will hide behind the "health of the student athletes" bullshit without giving them a say. It's obviously a liability issue or something else. But whatever it is, it ain't the health of the student athlete bullshit. Because that's just contradicted by everything.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?

It's a premature decision by the B10 and PAC12. SEC (ACC, B12 too...) is for once doing it right.
Student athletes should opt out if they feel uncomfortable. They still get to keep their scholarship. Do physicals and every type of health check needed for ALL participants before the first practice. Play the season with protocols.
I hope Nebraska and others find a way to say F*** the B10 and play games in the Fall.
As for the NFL, this doesn't change anything. MLB has their shit together recently. NFL will be fine in 2020.

I’d love to see somebody confront the assclown B1G commissioner with Coronavirus stats by age and ask him why 5 deaths per million is too great a risk to tolerate. (And how you are eliminating that risk by not playing football). Not only is Coronavirus not a risk to college football players, but it isn’t even obvious that playing football will spread the virus significantly more than the rest of college life.
ESPN and the B1G Network don’t have the balls to push back on this.
Welcome to the post-truth world.

No surprise here. Even the FL HS football association rejected the same bull-shit that their medical advisory board was pushing to support their recommendations to not start playing football .......the BT front office? Nope, they ate it up like idiots,, esp. ones looking for political cover, tend to do.
University of Michigan cardiologist Dr. Venk Murthy is questioning data used by the Big Ten to cancel its fall sports season. “It could be reasonable to cancel, just not on the basis of this paper which is highlighted extensively,” Murthy, professor of Preventive Cardiology at The UM Samuel and Jean Frankel Cardiovascular Center, tweeted in reference to a paper being relied upon by the Big Ten.
Read the link in it's entirety. Murthy says exactly what I said about competent MDs should not be using pre-published studies that appear on line to guide C-19 mitigation and opening or closing decisions. IOW the MD's advising the BT on how to proceed with fall sports are incompetent. Unfortunately, I don't think there is any chance of a reversal that is going to make the BIG front office look absolutely stupid. What a clown show.

Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.
