It's cute that AA throws in the whole of both conferences. The real answer is "without Ohio State."
Fuck Warren.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?

My personal feeling is that a lot of Big10 Presidents prob resent the athletic departments to begin with, and then that Indiana mom posted that her kid got covid and could barely breathe and had to go to the hospital and now might have permanent heart trouble and that spooked the Presidents into canceling. Within a week the schedule was released, two or three days later Indiana mom says her kid nearly died don't underestimate the disease, and a few days after that season's over. I think they are worried about lawsuits, particularly given the weird quasi-employee status student-athletes now have. It's pretty stupid, and I've said my piece that the football players at least are safer than the general student population is. But I imagine some lawyer threw out the scenario of some kid dying out on the field because his heart couldn't take the strain of covid and playing.Last edited by Dr. Strangelove; August 28, 2020, 01:53 PM.

I'll buy talent's description of what went down behind closed doors that he alleges Warren played a major role in the decision but ..... fuck ......Travis Clay alleging cancelling the BT football season so Warren can carry on his campaign to rid the White House of PDJT is just stupidly insane. I can't buy Clay Travis' argument that this is exactly what Warren did.
Did politics play a role? Sure, and I said so but speculating that Schlissel (among others) argued that you can't contain the virus without limiting human contact/mobility, such as encountered in a football game by players and coaches, so cancel fall sports, makes a fuckton more sense than what Clay is spouting.
Sure, his speculation could be more right than wrong. We've seen stupid shit go down since January wrt the pandemic but this? Possible but I don't think so.Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

Oh, there's a nice leap to get to that conclusion, no doubt.
But, man, look at where CFB is being played and where it isn't. The B10 is probably the one conference amongst the P5 that is politically down the middle -- roughly. The conference that is primarily D is definitely out. The conferences that are primarily R are holding tight. The conference in swing state America is torn. And within that conference, the schools leading the charge in favor of playing are from R states (OSU, UNL and, to a lesser extent, Iowa). I rather doubt Warren cancelled B10 football as a way to damage PDJT, but I also have no doubt that the political leanings of certain states and Warren's own views pushed the conference in one direction. At a minimum, politics was materially involved, if not dispositive. I'll go to my grave believing that.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?

Don't disagree with that .... at all.
But, to add stupid to stupid is the Biden commercials pegging the blame for no CFB this season on Trump. That is low hanging fruit to get Biden pilloried over. Until this (and I haven't seen them down here in FL), I rather liked Biden's adds. This one is a dumb lie. Disappointed he approved it ..... maybe that was Kamala's idea?Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. Is it all about politics? Is Warren that crass? That craven? I'm not sure, but if I had to pick a side to believe then I'd lean very much toward the season cancellation being at least somewhat motivated by politics.Shut the fuck up Donny!

I'd have to think long and hard to come up with a sports decision that was so horribly miscalculated. Fuck, man, aside from the decision made by various women to marry The Wizard, I can't think of any decision so obviously fucked up. The decision to send George Pickett into the heart of the American lines is sheer fucking genius in comparison. It's fucking appalling that we have to watch these motherfuckers walk it back, but if they actually walk it back then we're ok.
But why in the name of fucking allah do you cancel on August 4? Why don't you wait? What is the fucking point? It's so blindingly fucking stupid that we're either left to believe that B10 leadership is grotesquely stupid or there was something else driving the bus.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?

This "Thanksgiving Week Start" thing seems to be gathering steam. Not sure if it would be a full season, a mini-season, or whatever.
A 10 week season, if they play thru the Christmas and NYD holidays, will take them to the end of January. If they take any time off, it extends into February. Michigan v OSU in Columbus in February?
Anyway, .. there was also talk on Sportscenter tonight that there may be back-room talks going on with the SEC, ACC and Big 12 to have them "wait" for the Big Ten to finish its season, before beginning any playoffs for a NC.
I'm wondering if this may cause the Pac 12 to reconsider, if the Big Ten starts at Thanksgiving. They'd be the only major conference not playing.
Biggest hurdle to get past? IMO, its Schlissel and Whitmer. Michigan can't play without Schlissel on board, and MSU won't play if Whitmer isn't on board."The stockings were hung by the chimney with care, .. I'd worn them for weeks, and they needed the air"
