      • In basketball, I don't believe they're committed until they actually start attending classes.

Classes? Is that still a thing?

                  • Seems like the big money offers dried up, so he picked Michigan cuz he would have if money were no object. Weird twist. I'll take it! I'm hopeful that you want can pull one or two more in, and maybe have one last good to decent season before things go dark. I don't think they could contend for the conference, but they could get in the tournament and maybe make a little bit of noise and have a fun run.

If Dug and Tarris are good players, they'll get big money offers next summer and it's hard to imagine them here beyond this year unless they are both uncommonly loyal. It's also hard to imagine Juwan here beyond this year, unless Jace really wants a fifth year. Juwan is not perfect, but he has some compelling strengths as a coach and he has his own career arc to think of and salvage.

                    • I’m so over college basketball. Thank god football has the 3 year rule. CBB is basically pick-up games at the Y at this point.

                      • Agree. With all the one and dones you don't get to know the players, and its hard to have any fan loyalty toward them because you know they're headed to the league right away.

I don't know what the solution is, but the current system is not good for college basketball.

That is one possibility. The other is that Michigan actually ponied up the money, and if that is the case (and we have no way of knowing at the moment---if they did not likely that they would be broadcasting it) then it could be very good times ahead.

One thing is for sure that thisis going to be a much better defensive team this year.

                          • Michigan has reached out to Rutgers G (currently in the portal) Paul Mulcahy. He will be a grad transfer. Mulcahy is a very good defensive guard with range (36% from deep) though not high volume (54 attempts last year). At 6'6 he would bring some height to the guards. He should work real well with Dug and that would allow JL to move to bench as a combo guard.

                            • An ESPN article on Hunter Dickinson's transfer to Kansas, says he got less than 100k last year at Michigan. His family was shocked to learn that his earning potential started at 500k.

Hunter said NIL was not a deciding factor. Kansas didn't offer the most NIL money. He said he went Kansas because of their rep for developing bigs to the NBA.

                              • It’s kinda amazing that we’re talking about college athletes being openly paid 6 figures and how they’re underpaid because his “salary” was more appropriate at $500k.
