The fall of M basketball is a sacrificial lamb for the rise of M football. As is the case with the total embarrassment of the Detroit Pistons in order for the Detroit Lions to win a playoff game.
I now feel like Hunter Dickinson was totally right to transfer. He saw the interworking of a program collapse. Much of which was red flagged last season.
It’s disappointing. John Beilein had M basketball stabilized as a top 5-10 program. His offensive genius + Coach Yak’s defense was spectacular.AAL 2023 - Alim McNeillComment

Beilein eschewed the one and dones and chose to have guys who were likely to stay a couple years longer. He had a lot of success that way.

There's still a bit of magic remaining on campus today.
Michigan beats Ohio State in a MLK day matinee by a score of 73-65.
As an added bonus, the victory came with the Fab Five in attendance. All five members of the Fab Five were there as C. Webber came to town, along with Ray Jackson, Jalen Rose, and Jimmy King. I believe this is the first time that all five guys were together at Crisler since the 90's.
Anyway, .. congrats to the team. Wins are sparse this year, so celebrate each one.
