It’s not defeat or surrender.

It’s simply that I view your take as so intrinsically off-target, wrong-headed, and poorly thought-out that continued discussion is futile; folly. For a conversation to be productive, the two parties must have some shades of agreement, or at least respect the other’s take to the point of reaching some semblance of understanding - if not consensus on a few major points.

You just like the droids on Star Wars and didn’t want to see any of the old characters. I do not agree. You see a completely unprepared Rey defeating a powerful, experienced Sith Lord and think it’s ‘cool’ or whatever. I do not agree. You use “nostalgia” as an epithet and, again, I do not agree. I could go on, but the short of it is that we have no common points of reference or concurrence in our visions of that universe.

Further conversation is silly and I’m not in the mood for silly.

Like I said, moving on…

Same people complaining that the Marvel movies are all the same also want their Star Wars movies to contain the following:

Empire vs Rebels
Darth Vader or someone who acts and looks just like him
Obi Wan or someone who looks and acts just like him
Bring back as much of the original cast as possible even if 85
Have old Jedi (who is wise and patient) train young Jedi
Power rank all the Jedi and Sith
Bikini slave
LIGHT SABERS!!!

If the writers can’t deliver all that AND write in a bunch of new well-developed characters then your writers just suck! Yuck! Just do a scene for scene reenactment at that point.

Not sure if this series has been discussed here...but White House Plumbers which streams on Max right now is a pretty good watch...Justin Theroux's impression of Gordon Liddy is fucking classic...and Woody Harrelson's Howard Hunt is pretty good as well...
